Graveside services will be private at Salem Cemetery in Hamlin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made in Jean’s name to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart of the Sacred Heart 53 Glenmaura National Boulevard, Suite 120, Moosic, Pa 18507.

Jean May Evans, went to be with Lord, Thursday afternoon in the arms of Jeannie, Ken, and Stacey. Her husband of 62 years Raymond L. Evans, Sr. passed way in 2011.

Born October 29, 1932 in Gravity, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Frances Kimble – Jones. She attended Lake Consolidated School. Prior to retirement, she was a private duty caregiver and worked at St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst and Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center in Lake Ariel. She ran a small ceramic shop in her basement and gave lessons to many people.

Jean enjoyed cooking, baking, and ceramics. She was well known for her cookies and cinnamon buns.

Surviving are her daughters Hazel Mitchell of Exeter and her loving and dedicated caregiver’s Jean Swingle and her husband Ken of Lake Ariel; sons Raymond Evans, Jr. of Gravity, David Evans of Newfoundland, and Joseph Evans of Wimmers; brothers Charlie Jones of Gravity, Rev. Clifford Jones of Matamoras, Ernie Jones of Scranton, Paul Jones of Florida, and Art Jones of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 22 great – great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her grandson Jason Evans and granddaughter Amy Jo Kane; sisters Loretta Prussia and Myrtle Beckendorf.

Jean’s family is especially thankfully for the nurses and social worker of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, her caregivers, and especially her nurse Danielle.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at a date and time to be announced.
