Henry Lawrence Chapman, a resident of St. Mary’s Villa, formerly of Lake Ariel, entered into eternal rest Monday morning. His wife is the former Carol Joan Swingle. The couple celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 5, 2013.

Born December 19, 1942 he was the son of the late Wilbur and Mabel Owens Chapman. He was a graduate of the Johnson School and was of  the Protestant faith. Henry was a self employed carpenter who enjoyed training and working with his sons. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. His family was such an important part of his life that in February of 1976 he and his family welcomed his cousins Cathleen, Charlene, Roland and James Beatty into his home.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Villa for the kindness and compassion shown not only to Henry but also to them while he was a resident at the Villa.

Also surviving are sons Michael Chapman and Mark Chapman and his wife Rebecca; daughters Michelle Simons and her husband Ronald, Glenna Birns and her husband Ardin, Holly Straka and Jacklyn Compton and her husband Jeffrey; brothers Norman Chapman and his wife Rose, Charles Chapman and his wife Diana and Donald Chapman and his wife Lucille; 17 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his cousin Roland Beatty.

Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
