Harry J. Kostige, 98 of Lakeville, passed away at the VA Medical Center, Hospice Unit in Wilkes – Barre following an illness. His wife of 69 years, the former Virginia Gumble passed away in 2021.

Born in Lakeville, Pa, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rose Rozdilaski Kostige. He attended Hemlock Hollow school and was a graduate of Hawley High School.

A United States Army Veteran, He was a WWII Staff Sergeant of the 271st Field Artillery Battalion in Japan from 1944 – 1946. Prior to retirement, he was a lineman for PPL for 38 years. After his retirement, he was dedicated to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are daughters Jill Wargo of Lake Ariel and Tami Nelson and her husband Kenneth of Pulaski, NY; grandchildren Demanie Hogan, Leonard Wargo, and Andrew Wargo; great grandchildren Dawson Wargo, Landon Wargo, Adysen Wargo, Kaitlin Wargo, Olivia Black, Rheagan Wargo, and Aerringtyn Wargo; a sister Evelyn Dugan of Philadelphia; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr Mark Murnin and staff, VA Medical Center Hospice and Staff, Sacred Heart Hospice, Wayne County Meals on Wheels, and Allied Services.

The memorial will be at the convenience of the family

Private Cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
