A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00PM in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.

Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Grover’s memory may be made to: Traditional Home Health and Hospice, 113 West Drinker St. Dunmore, Pa 18512.

Grover L. White, 84, of Greentown, passed away peacefully Friday evening at home surrounded by his wife of 56 years Barabara White (nee Lennon) and his family.

Born in Drummond Island, MI, he was the son of the late Harley and Elizabeth White.  After graduating from Southfield High School in Michigan, he began a career in the US Army as a radio operator and later as a Behavioral Science Specialist Caseworker, attaining the rank of Sergeant 1st Class.

Grover served as a member of the following units: 11th Airborne Division, 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Airborne Division, 10th Special Forces, 5th Corps Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP), and the 75th Rangers.

During his service Grover earned the following awards: Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Soldiers Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dom Rep), Vietnam Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

In 1978, Grover retired to Greentown, Pa where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, talking to Army buddies, hunting, and fishing. His family will miss his humor and wit.

Grover is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughters Maureen Dewey and her husband Tom of Lords Valley, Michelle Maddox of Greentown, and Deborah Hussung and her husband Sam of Lake Ariel; grandchildren James Maddox, Kyla Dewey, Meghan Dewey, Angela Hussung, and Nicholas Hussung; sisters Marilyn Mareck, Sandra Hoganson, and Karen Kemppainen; sister-in-law Bernadine Lennon and her husband Jon Tandy of Greentown; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Kruwell.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home.
