Eugene P. DeTone

Eugene P. DeTone of Lake Ariel passed away, following an illness, February 24th at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center, where he had been a resident since 2002.

Born in Passaic, NJ, he grew up in Clifton, NJ, and was the son of the late Eugene and Evelyn Tramontin DeTone. He was a graduate of the Admiral Farragut Academy, Pine Beach, NJ and attended the Columbia Prep School, Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1960-1966. He worked as the head mechanic for Tramontin Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Clifton, NJ and owned and operated The Magic Wand, Bricktown, NJ. He had a love for entertainment and magic and performed as Boho the Clown during children’s birthday parties.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Patrick Murnin and the nurses and staff at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center for the wonderful care that Gene received over the 12 and ½ years, and also to the Commonwealth Hospice nurses for the compassionate care they provided in the last 2 weeks of his life.

Surviving are children Christopher Anthony DeTone and his wife Melanie of Clearwater, FL; Kimberly Ann DeSau and her husband Michael of Hawley; Amy Elaine Schneider and her husband William of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Gabrielle DeTone, Bennett DeTone, Rachel DeSau, Grace Schneider, Faith Schneider, Hope Schneider; a brother Peter DeTone and his wife Marilyn of Bedford, NH; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday April 11th at 10:00am at St. Thomas More 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
