Ethan A. Singer, Ph.D., CRNP – C, 55 of Hawley, passed away Tuesday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Doris (Jackson) Singer.

Born May 13th, 1967, in Ridgewood, NJ, he was the son of the late Lois (Tuschmann) and Walter Singer. He was a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School Class of 1985. He earned a Registered Nurse Degree from CMC School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marywood University, Master of Science in Nursing from Misericordia University, and a PhD in Human Development/Health Promotion from Marywood University. Ethan was a member of the Tafton Fire Company starting as an EMT at the age of 16. His desire to help people led him to a hugely successful and fulfilling career in healthcare. When he wasn’t saving lives, he was entertaining everyone playing the drums to his favorite 80s music. He first discovered a love of drumming in middle school when he was a member of the Oakland Rangers Drum Corps. He was devoted to his family, his patients, and especially his dog, Tucker.

Ethan was a faculty member at Sullivan County Community College, Marywood University, and lectured at SUNY Binghamton. He also mentored many students during their clinal rotations. He served as an advisor for the think tank, SRxA. A published author, Ethan wrote many articles which appeared in peer-reviewed medical journals, as well as a children’s book, Harry Gets Glasses, which he also illustrated.

Also surviving are a step-daughter Erika (Winterle) Wilder and her husband Brian of Lakeville; a step-son Dieter Winterle and his wife Heather of Plymouth; a sister Deborah Singer of Hawley; step-grandchildren Savannah, William, Maddie, Deanna, and Tatum, his aunt Arlene Novak, and his beloved dog Tucker.
