Ellis J. Mead, 87, of Moscow, passed away Tuesday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. His loving wife of 62 years is the former June Snyder.

Born in Madison Twp., he was the son of the late Floyd and Iva Edwards Mead. He was a graduate of Moscow High School. Ellis was a lifetime Dairy and Veal Farmer until retirement. After retirement, he worked at Sterling Filter in Moscow. He was a member of the Madisonville Christian Church.

Ellis loved to fish and enjoyed his annual family fishing trips to Canada. Ellis loved his Church, where he was a Deacon for many years. He also loved attending church and spending time with the congregation. Ellis was a kind and thoughtful person to everyone he met. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor that was enjoyed by many people.

Also surviving are a son Matthew Mead and his wife Kimberly of Madison Twp.; a daughter Diane Woehrle and her husband Walter of Moscow; a sister Olive Naro of Gouldsboro; grandchildren Joshua Woehrle (Gina), Tina Howe (Christopher), Jamie Fischer (Jeffrey), Casey Shaffer (Kristopher), and Madison Mead; great grandchildren Elizabeth Woehrle, Kaylee Woehrle, Abigail Woehrle, Jack Woehrle, Jeffery Howe, Catherine Howe, Kenneth Fischer, Emma Shaffer, and Lucas Shaffer.

He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Mead and sisters Elsie Parry and Margaret Elias.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Pastor Scot Schlittler.
