Obituaries » Edward T. Planthaber January 3, 2014 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Edward T. Planthaber of Jefferson Twp. passed away January 3, 2014 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital after an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, the former Patricia King. He was born in the Bronx, New York to the late August and Florence Dunn Planthaber on December 14, 1937. After moving from New York to Lake Ariel, Edward had a 22-year career in the United States Army earning the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a squad leader in Vietnam, a tank commander, and finished his career as a drill instructor at Fort Knox, KY. He was a member of the VFW Post 5207 and the 5th Infantry Regiment Association “Bobcats”. Also surviving are daughters Kim Smith and her husband Rick of Leeton, MO; Karen Grizzanti of Chester Springs, PA; Tammy Hakenson and her husband Kurt of Walkersville, MD; and Crystal Planthaber of Lake Ariel; sons Brian and his wife Paula of Chester Springs, PA; and Eric and his wife Holly of Moscow, PA; a sister Annabelle Johannes of Waymart; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Swingle. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa. 18436 Interment will take place in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
