Edward Janus, 88, of Jefferson Twp., passed away Saturday morning at home following an illness. His loving wife of 67 years is the former Lucille Bitterman.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Josephine Sarnoski – Janus. He was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School. Prior to retirement, he was an auto body specialist, auto mechanic, and drove school bus in the North Pocono School District. Also, he was the proud owner of Janus Garage in Jefferson Twp. A snowmobile enthusiast, he owned one of the first snowmobile dealerships in the area and was the founder of the Sno – Mads snowmobile club in Mt. Cobb.

Also surviving are his daughter Barbara Janus of Jefferson Twp.; a son James Janus of Jefferson Twp.; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sons Edward Janus, Jr. and Charles Janus; sisters Stella Janus, Marie Hemmler, and Elsie Motichka; brothers Joseph, Thomas, John, Stanley, Daniel, and William “Chucky” Janus.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
