A celebration of Edith’s life will be held Saturday at 4pm in the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville, 23 Pond Rd. Hollisterville officiated by Pastor James Sheridan.

Friends may call Saturday from 3pm until time of service at the church.

Private graveside services will be held in the Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery.

Edith T. Black, Hollisterville, died Sunday in the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center after an illness.   She was the widow of Lowell C.B. Black who died in 1985.

Born 1923 in Salem Twp., she was the daughter of the late Otis and Ethel Wetherill Catterson.  She was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

Surviving are daughters Jean Black of Maplewood, Linda Smith and her husband Carlton of S. Canaan and Elaine Chapman and her husband James of Lake Ariel;  sons James Black and his wife Betsy of Maplewood and Joseph Black and his wife Roberta of Hollisterville;  grandchildren; great grandchildren;  nieces and nephews.

Edith was also preceded in death by her grandson Jonathan Black; a sister Elizabeth Shaffer; a brother Oran Catterson.
