Dr. George DeSau, 89, a resident of Hawley PA, passed away on Saturday, May 18th, following several strokes over the course of the past year. Born in Williamsport, Pa. on March 23, 1930, the son of George DeSau and Mary Knight DeSau. He was one of three siblings and a graduate of Williamsport High School, Rutgers University and The Pennsylvania State University, where he received his Doctorate in Psychology.

Dr. DeSau devoted his life to helping people across the world through his work in the fields of Education, Rehabilitation, Mental Health, Industrial Consulting and Human Development. As a clinical psychologist, teacher, and instructor he mentored, counseled, and taught people across the globe, doing what he enjoyed most, helping people through difficult times and making their lives better in every way. Dr. DeSau was President of a private psychological practice and later became a partner in DeSau, Pearson and Associates of York PA. During his career, Dr. DeSau joined The Silva Method based out of Laredo TX, where he gained world-wide recognition for research he conducted, along with a talented group of fellow researchers, on conscious control over brain wave studies.

He and his wife Ruth, his true love and soul mate, enjoyed traveling across the globe together and with friends, especially their friends from the Silva Community. His biggest enjoyment was the time he spent with his family, including his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are his sons Steven DeSau of South Williamsport PA, Michael DeSau and his wife Kimberly of Hawley PA; brother James DeSau of Williamsport PA; grandchildren Rachel DeSau of Hawley PA,, Jessica Corrigan and her husband Daniel Corrigan of Beach Lake PA, Jackie DeSau and partner Petr Sevcik of Welcome Lake PA, Matthew DeSau of Honesdale PA, and Jennifer Barber and her husband Ron Barber of York PA; great grandchildren Violet Whitmore, Nesta Sevcik, Shaela Corrigan, Isla Corrigan, Liam Corrigan, Maeve Corrigan, Emilynn Barber, Madeline Barber and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Newton DeSau, his parents George and Mary DeSau; and his brother PFC Lawrence K. DeSau, a Purple Heart recipient killed in action during the Korean War.
