Dr. Crothamel was my Calculus professor at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School in Fort Monmouth, NJ from the Fall of 1991 through the Spring of 1992. I absolutely loved Dr. Crothamel, and I treasure every moment I had in his classroom. Every time I think of anything math-related, I always think of him. I corresponded with him around 2015 not too long after his wife had passed away. He wrote me a sweet letter back. Life and time got in the way and I never got around to writing him again--a failure I sorely regret. Dr. Crothamel was an amazing professor. I am so thankful to have had the privilege to learn from him. He made a strong impact not only my life but on many of the students he taught. I still have the Calculus book I used in his class--Calculus, 3rd Editition--Larson and Hostetler. In fact, I was working some problems from it earlier today when I decided to Google Dr. Crothamel and see how he was doing. I was very sorry to hear he had passed away. The world is a lesser place without him. Thank you for all that you meant to me, Dr. Crothamel. Thank you for all that you still mean. Rest in peace.
