A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 29th from 2-5 pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, PA. Reception to follow at 5:30 pm at John’s Italian Restaurant, 570 Route 590, Hamlin, PA.

Doris C. Morgan, 74, who has lived for the past 11 years in The Hideout in Lake Ariel, PA, died Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an ongoing battle with cancer.

 

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Doris was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Yaros Hnath. Doris’s surviving family includes her beloved husband of 47 years, Ray Morgan; their five children Bevin Nixon and her husband Jeff of Pennsylvania; Jennifer Slade and her husband Andrew of California; Christopher Morgan and his wife Hitomi of New Jersey; James Morgan and his wife Nancy of Rhode Island; and Laura Morgan of New Jersey; their four grandchildren Bryce, Rhett, Sofia, and Jack; Doris’s sister Audrey Straczynski and her husband Richard of Lake Ariel; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Prior to retirement, Doris was a Professor of Biology at Middlesex County Community College in NJ, where she also sat as Chair of the Biology Department. Previously she taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Aside from completing her Bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees at Fairleigh Dickinson, Doris also attended Boston College, Columbia University, and medical school in Michigan.

 

Doris gave her heart and her life to the care of her family and her many students through teaching.

 

Cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home.
