David W. Merring, Lake Ariel, died Wednesday at home after being stricken ill.   His wife of  37 years is the former Mary M. Dolph.

Born 1960 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Donald and Kathryn “Jane” Chapman Merring.   He was educated in Western Wayne Schools and went on to work in construction and as a stone mason.

He loved his wife, his children and his grandchildren with all his heart.  He loved hunting and fishing.  He had a love of restoring trucks.

Also surviving are daughters Elisha Carey and her husband William of Jessup, Brandy Hineline and her husband Jeremy of Sterling and Jasmine Martin and her husband Richard of Scranton;  sons Joshua of Carbondale and Samuel of Pleasant Mount;  sisters Emily Wilson and her husband Mike of New Jersey, Pamela Glosenger and her husband Randy of Lakeville, Cindy Kovaleski and her husband Randy of Honesdale, Tina Mitschele and her husband Keith of Lords Valley, Karen Caffrey and her husband Jim of Carbondale and Michelle McDonald and her husband John of Sterling;  brothers Phil and his wife Sue and Mike and his wife Denise all of Sterling;  grandchildren Kayli Hineline, Jacob Hineline, Ella Merring, Kaleb Merring, Loralei Martin, Gabriel Martin and Logan Merring;  nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death a brother Kevin Merring.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
