David Lloyd Swoyer, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in the Abington Manor.
David was born to the late Clayton and Mildred Hallock Swoyer. He lived out his long life in “his house”; the family homestead in Maplewood, PA. As a boy, he worked in the coal mines with his brothers. After serving in the Korean war, he came home to marry Florence Speshock, until her death on January 23, 2011. David and Florence took over the Swoyer family’s boat livery business on Lake Henry, and together created a legacy, which is now known as
Clayton Park Recreational Area. After 35 years of service, David retired from his job as a materials technician II at the PA Department of Transportation

David held a deep sense of family tradition and never minded a day’s work. He had a strong appreciation for the outdoors, enjoyed time with his family and friends, country music, and the piano music of his beloved wife. He was also known to enjoy John Wayne movies, fly fishing, and never passed up a good provolone and salami sandwich. He believed in his community and fighting for what he believed in; respected by all who knew him. He attended St. Thomas More Parish in Lake Ariel

He is survived by three children, his son David W. and partner Lorraine Zacker, a daughter, Sonya Zacker and husband Maurice Gilmore, and his youngest son Mark. Also surviving are a sister, Mary Ann Moore and husband Allen, of Cortez, two granddaughters, Tracey O’Neill, and Victoria Swoyer, 2 grandsons, Joseph and Jonathon Zacker, and 1 stepson, Danny Bradford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews

David was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry, Clayton Jr., Lloyd, and Emery, and his sister, Viola Krisiak.
