Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in the St. Thomas More Church 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen Stavoy.

Friends may call Friday from 4pm – 7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.

All CDC and State guidelines will be strictly enforced, including the mandatory use of facial coverings and proper social distancing.

Please be prepared to pay your respects in a timely manner while refraining from physical contact.   Once you have paid your respects it is kindly asked that you to exit the funeral home.

Chester Dec, 75, of South Canaan, passed away Monday afternoon at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His loving wife of 52 years is the former Janina Warchol.

Born May 15, 1945 in Poland, he was the son of the late Walter and Genowefa Stephen Dec. Prior to retirement, he was a Machinist at General Dynamics in Scranton. He was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community.

Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, wood working, bee keeping, bbq’s, attending polka dances and wine making and spending time with his grandchildren. He was deeply knowledgeable of all his hobbies and loved sharing the information with anyone that showed an interest. He made friends everywhere he went and will be deeply missed by all.

Also surviving are his daughter Diane Estus and her fiancé Sal Culotta of Lake Ariel; sons Richard Dec and his wife Julie of Courtdale and John Dec and is companion Heather Swartz of Pleasant Mount; a sister Krystyna Dul of New Jersey; grandchildren Haley, Shelby, Zophia, and Jacob; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother John Dec.
