A Celebration of Charles life will take place on Saturday, July 23rd at 11:00am in the Lakeville United Methodist Church, 431 Purdytown Turnpike (Rt 590), Lakeville, Pa.

Private Inurnment, Arlington Cemetery, the Village of Arlington.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles memory may be made to the Lakeville United Methodist Church, 431 Purdytown Turnpike, Lakeville, Pa 18438 or the Arlington Cemetery, 36 C Bidwell Road, Lake Ariel, Pa 18436.

Charles S. Bidwell, 99, of the Village of Arlington, passed away on April 14, 2022 surrounded by his children at his daughter’s Florida home. His wife of 71 ½ years, the former Janet Dippre passed away in 2017

Born in South Canaan, Pa, he was the son of the late Charles and Alice Bidwell. He grew up in the Village of Arlington. Charles worked for his father, then went into the United States Army during World War II and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While on leave, he was riding on a bus from New Jersey where he met his wife from Green Ridge, Janet Dippre. On December 25, 1945 they united in marriage in the Lakeville United Methodist Church and had three children. Charles worked for Dairylea Cooperative from 1952 until he retired in 1987 and returned to home to the family homestead in the Village of Arlington. He and his wife were active members of the Lakeville United Methodist Church and he was a great historian of the area.

Surviving are a son Robert Bidwell and his wife Patricia of Perrysburg, OH; a daughter Pamela Maurer and her husband Robert of the Village of Arlington; four grandsons Jeffrey Bidwell and his wife Jennifer, Barry Bidwell and companion Lauren McDaniel, Robert Maurer and his wife Gloria, and Brian Maurer; 10 great grandchildren Kate, Madison, Ryan, Elliot, Jeremy, Alexander, Benjamin, Liam, Stella, and Jayce.

He was preceded in death by his son Barry who was killed in Vietnam.
