August M. “Augie” Michko February 10, 2015 August M. “Augie” Michko of Waymart, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, at his home in Waymart. He was proceeded in death, in 2007, by his wife the former Gertrude J. Derrick.

Augie was born, in Lake Ariel, a son of the late August and Margaret Michko. Through the years he worked for several agencies including; Sikorsky Aircraft, Moore Business Forms, Polt’s Plumbing and Heating, Honesdale Electric, and Charter Homes, just to name a few. He was known as a jack of all trades and frequently helped friends and neighbors with plumbing and electrical repairs. He was a self taught accordion musician beginning at the age or 4. He played in many orchestras through the years but is most know for his 34 years with the Rhythm Valley Boys. He enjoyed tinkering with about anything he could get his hands on, as well as, hunting and fishing. He served in the U.S. Air Force, as a mechanic for the B-26 bomber, during the Korean War. He was a “Lifetime” member of the Thomas A. Snook V.F.W. Post 6520 in Cortez, PA. Augie was extremely proud of his service to this country.

Surviving are his children; Paul J. Michko and Patricia M. Michko of Waymart and his son Carl August and wife Lauren Michko of Honesdale; a brother Vincent Michko of Sayerville, NJ; five grandchildren Lindsey, Amanda, Amelia, Finn, and Jack Michko; several nieces and nephews Predeceased by a daughter-in-law Margo; brother Joseph, and sister Anna Michko.

The Blessing service will be held on Sunday at 5:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, Pa 18436.

Friends may call from 2:00pm to 5:00pm in the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the Spring.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the James Wilson Funeral Home.
