Allison Leigh Rickert, 24, beloved child, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, was snatched from us by Multiple Pulmonary Emboli on September 18, 2015 in South Canaan, Pennsylvania.  Her passing was sudden and, thankfully, there was no fear, worry or pain as she passed away.

Ally was born in Princeton, New Jersey, and lived with her loving family in Yardley, Pennsylvania.  She attended Millersville University from which she graduated in December 2013.  At the time of her sudden passing, she was living in South Canaan and excelling as an Editorial lntern at the book publishing division for Highlights for Children in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.

The trail she created during her too-brief life is filled with people who recognized how amazingly talented and how wonderfully beautiful she was.  Her love of words was eclipsed only by her ability to employ them, which brought her to the brink of a promising career in publishing.  Her future was so incredibly bright that she was forced, sometimes against her will, to wear shades.  Ally was finding her footing in this world with fervent enthusiasm; she was thoroughly in love with the job at Highlights.  Since she began that position, she lived with her maternal grandparents, Earl and Susan Lory, who were with her in their home when she died so unexpectedly.

Ally was preceded in death by her biological grandmother, Alice Anne Lory and her Aunt Wendy L. Rickert. She is survived by her parents, Katherine (Kay) Lory and Donald Rickert, Yardley, Pennsylvania; her siblings, Emily, Ryan and Ruth, Yardley, Pennsylvania; her paternal Grandparents Herbert and Rose Rickert, East Windsor, NJ; her maternal grandparents, Earl and Susan Lory, South Canaan, Pennsylvania and many loving aunts and uncles, including Nancy and The Reverend Bert Watkins, Leslie and Jim Campbell, Ken Rickert, Bruce and Angie Lory, Lisa Bessel and Bill McKay, Erik and Tina Bessel, Lee Beckerman and Wendi Rottweiler, Sean and Michelle Reed, Marta Rottweiler, Neil and Susan Swartz, Thomasin Langlands and Serge Coté, Robert Langlands, Jeffrey Lusen, Julie Zenel, and have it be known that this list is likely to be incomplete and we apologize for that; her cousins, Christopher, Ebie and Earl Lory, Gwynne and Gabe Mckee, Anselm Mckee, Keelan Campbell, Amie Rickert, Phoebe Bessel, Dylan McKay, Max and Amelia Beckerman, Lauren, Jake and Holly Reed, Emma and Greta Rottweiler, Jaime Swartz, Zoe Coté, Katherine Zenel-Langlands, and again, this list may be missing names.  In addition to the above named there were many dear, dear friends that can and should claim her as their own and you know who you are.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing at 268 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Titusville, New Jersey, 08560, http://www.uucwc.org/, on Saturday, September 26th, 2015.  Friends and family are invited to gather at 11:00 A.M. and are welcome to stay until about 3:30 P.M.; the service will begin at 12 noon after which there will be refreshments and time to visit and share stories about our sweet girl.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please find someone you love and hug them, and we hope that the reader might see the irony in that Allison, with her stunning ability to craft thoughts into words, is at the center of a situation where words seem to fail.
