To Rene, Kenny & Family and Jaime and family, Jim and I (Bettina), along with Nicole and Rich, send our deepest sympathy for the loss of Dear Alice. As a child I remember visiting Aunt Alice many Sundays. She was always very welcoming and she made us feel at home (though after Rainy was grown there was indeed a lack of toys lol) However, at Christmas (after Rainy was too old) Gordon and I got gifts from where she worked and they were always really NICE gifts. I remember one year I got this pink round case that zippered all the way around and instead was stuff for your hair. Furthermore, as long I've known Aunt Alice she has always been a fantastic cook! She made THE BEST sauerbraten I have ever tasted!!! She was just like Oma when it came to food.....perhaps a German culture?..... food was a gift of love when prepared for others. Tante Alice sure knew how to love! Moreover she made it very apparent that she loved her daugher, grandchildren and great grandchildren by showing them an abundance of affection. I have many fond memories of Aunt Alice although most are from when I was growing up because I did not see her as often when I was an adult and didn't live near her. I have her recipe for potato pancakes (which I make often), so although she is gone, I am reminded of HER everytime I have sauerbraten and potato pancakes! Again, my condolences and wishes for God to grant you peace in this sorrowful time. Life is all about making memories and I'm sure you have many memories to look back on and laugh or smile. Though at first those memories may make you cry, eventually you will look back upon them and smile or laugh as you feel Alice's warmth and love embrace you!
