Alfred R. Rosengrant, 93, of Cortez died Friday evening at Allied Services Hospice Center following an illness. His loving wife of 74 years is the former Georgina Kizer.

Born October 24, 1926 in Elmhurst, he was the son of the late Walter and Florence Sachse Rosengrant. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated School. Prior to retirement, he was a Supervisor for Wyoming Sand and Stone in Tunkhannock. He was a member of the Cortez United Methodist Church, Cortez and attend Light of Christ Church, Mt. Cobb. For many years, he was the Cortez United Methodist Church lay representative in the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church. An avid map and deed reader, he was a member of the Jefferson Township Historical Society, and loved talking about area history.

He loved camping and later spent winters in their mobile home in Winter Haven, Florida.  While in Florida they attended the Dundee Methodist Church and enjoyed attending gospel concerts while making many new friends.

Also surviving are his son David Rosengrant and his wife Lissette “Betty” of Maplewood; brothers Stewart Rosengrant of Wysox, Pa and Ronald Rosengrant of Lake Henry; grandchildren Debra Davis, Kimberly Dickey, David Rosengrant, and Michael Dickey; great grandchildren Brandon Davis, Victoria Davis, Samuel Dickey, Alexandria Rosengrant, Alice Dickey, and Jonathan Rosengrant; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his daughter Donna Dickey; sister Katherine Harris; brothers Julius, Harry, Jim, and Lloyd Rosengrant.

The family wants to thank Ruth and all the health care givers that have come to the house and helped us through this difficult time.
