Aleksandar Stanku, 79, of Lake Ariel, passed away on Friday, December 30th at home. His former wife Mary Jane Farber passed away in August 2022.

Born in Ritisevo, Serbia, he was the son of the late Ana Dema and Ilia Stanku. Beloved brother, father, and grandfather, Aleks truly lived The American Dream. An immigrant from the Former Yugoslavia, Aleks worked all his life to accel in his work and family life. With limited formal education he worked his way up the ranks as a machinist in the aviation and aerospace industry where he was involved in making critical components for the ISS, International Space Station.

Aleks had as much pride in his three kids, Jon, Alex, and Alexis, as he had in his work. To know Aleks was to know that family and friends took first priority, especially at the table. Much more so after he retired, if you visited with Aleks you were offered food and drink. Saying no to his offers to feed you were not an option, because instantly and without effort full plates and full glasses were present. Rest assured that while you were eating one meal, the next one was in preparation in the oven, or smoker, or grill.

Aleks was a true outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were his passion and loved to pass the time fishing and hunting when time permitted. When he retired to Lake Ariel, every day was a day full of duty to pets, chickens, home, and garden. There was always the sound of industry accompanied by the music he loved.

He was lover of animals. He had his dog Hunter, his cats Bella and Chipmunk, his chickens, there were turkeys at one time. He gardened and took pride in his cucumbers, zucchinis, and peppers. He thoroughly enjoyed helping at the senior center where he was loved and admired.

He will be sorely missed, but always present in our hearts and minds.

Surviving is his daughter Alexis Stanku of Philadelphia; sons Jon Stanku of Maryland, and Alexander Stanku and his wife Margie McGinley of Glenside, Pa; a brother Jon Dema of Canada; grandchildren Stefanie, Noble, and Mack Stanku.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
