Albert “Jr” Stevens passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 28, 2016 at the VNA Hospice Unit at the Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA, following a determined and courageous battle with cancer.  He was 60 years of age and passed long before his time.

For 37 years, Jr was employed by the Weiler Corp in Cresco, PA.   Previous to his years of dedication and service at Weiler, he dedicated his life to the beloved family farm as a dairy farmer.   Jr was notoriously early to rise and wasn’t afraid of hard work.   It was nothing to find him at the family farm early  each weekend morning, enjoying a coffee,  conversation with the family and planning the work that he never stopped lending a hand in completing.  Even the family dog, Buster, waited for him at the door each weekend morning.

Jr is the son of the late Albert Stevens Sr and  Elsie Stevens (formerly Beemer) of Sterling, PA.   Albert lived in Greentown, PA with his loving wife of 25 years, Noel Stevens, formerly Noel Narvid of Honesdale, PA.   He was the grandson of the late Frank & Helen Stevens of Sterling and Asher & Cora Beemer, also of Sterling.

He is survived by the follow: Janet (sister) and husband James Gilpin of South Sterling, Douglas Stevens (brother) and friend Deb Hertzog of Sterling, Sandra Leonard (sister) of Tobyhanna, Patricia Stevens (sister) of Sterling, Daniel (brother) and wife Kim Stevens of South Sterling, Michael (brother) and wife Wendy Stevens of Sterling, Steven Stevens (brother) and Richard Stevens (brother), both of Sterling, PA.   Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Jr loved being with family and enjoyed hunting with his brothers.  He always looked forward to traveling to Canada for annual family fishing trips and fishing on the Salmon River in Polaski, NY.  He enjoyed Nascar, concerts and county fairs.

Jr had a larger-than-life personality, a big heart and a smile as big as his spirit.  He will be sorely missed by friends and family.

Friends may call Friday March 4th at the James Wilson Funeral Home in Lake Ariel, PA between 4 and 8 PM.  Final services will take place on Saturday, March 5th at 10 AM.  Internment will immediately follow at the Sterling Cemetery, Rt 196, Sterling, PA.

The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at the Hematology and Oncology Group of Scranton, PA for their care and compassion.   The family would also like to thank the VNA Hospice organization that came into Jr’s and Noel’s home and for the care, compassion and comfort provided at the VNA Hospice Unit at the Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA.
