Jean Hessmiller of Dunmore died Monday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center following an illness.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Donald and Janet Hawley Hatcher, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School.

Grammanini, as she was known to her grandkids, family, and friends was a unique, fun-loving woman and a selfless grandmother to her favorite people in the world.  Jean kept up with all the kid’s events, trying her best to be at everyone.  She enjoyed spending time with family especially summer cookouts and her big Thanksgiving dinners.  She was a hard worker and treasured the friendships she made during her time as a house-keeper.  There was never a dull moment when she was around, and she lived life to the fullest.

Surviving are her daughter Nicole Perrone and her husband, JJ; sons William and his wife Joann, Jeffrey and his wife, Devon; brother, Don Hatcher and his wife, Mary Lyn;  twin sister Joan Loftus and her husband, Pete.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Brice Finnerty and his wife, Elizabeth and Emily Finnerty, Will and Lauren Hessmiller, Kayla and Emma Hessmiller; great-grandchildren, Elliott and Julia and Jean was expecting another great-grandchild in December along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen White.

Friends may call Friday from 9:00-10:00 am in the Vanston & James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
