Jean C. Turner of Lake Ariel died Saturday evening in the Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center, Lake Ariel. Her Husband is John Turner.

Jean was born in Lake Ariel, daughter of the late Amzi B. and Agnes Schneider Cook the former owners of the Cook Funeral Home in Lake Ariel. She was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and the Empire Beauty School. She was the owner of Jeans Beauty Shoppe, Lake Ariel. Jean was also a member of Lake Ariel United Methodist Church and its Choir. She was also a member of the Harriet Greene Order Eastern Star. She had also been associated with James Wilson Funeral Home as a hairdresser.

Also surviving are a daughter Mary Krisovitch and her husband Joseph of Lake Ariel and son James Romanowski and his wife Susan of Lake Ariel; brothers Harold and Alfred Cook of Lake Ariel, and Ernest"Duff"Cook of Honesdale; a sister Ethel Rose of Cherry Ridge Twp.; 3 granddaughters Jennifer, Heather and Patricia.; a great grandson John. Several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death brothers William and Arthur Cook and a sister Elizabeth Gorton.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Gravity Rd ,Route 296 Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7.

Cremation took place at the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Also surviving are step-sons George and his wife Stacy, Michael and his wife Lori, Patrick and his companion Jamie Lukeski, Kevin and his wife Sarah, all of Madison Twp.; sisters Judy VanGaasbeck and her husband Donald, Sterling and Lyn Madison and her husband Phil, Elmhurst; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

Mary Lynne Lown, mother, wife and long time kindergarten teacher died at her Lake Ariel home Sunday after a prolonged illness. Her husband is Loren 'Larry' Lown, Jr.

Born in Scranton daughter of the late Duane and Julie Wozniack Franham, she was a graduate of North Pocono High School and the Pennsylvania State University. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Moscow. She returned to North Pocono as a kindergarten teacher to the children of Jefferson Elementary, a role she cherished for 25 years.

Aside from adding her own personal touch to the lives of her students, and any child around her. She enjoyed: camping, traveling, calligraphy, crocheting, biking, bed time stories and anything that brought family and friends together. She was particularly fond of little things in life had to offer, she delighted in the unexpected treat of Rollo’s, a casual conversation, a moment with her grandson, and the gentle nuzzle of her dog. She will be remembered forever by her family.

Surviving are three daughters Megan Arvonio and her husband Marc of Lake Ariel, US Army Spec. Jessica serving in Iraq, and Kelly of Lake Ariel; a grandson Austin; one niece.

Rosemary Nolan, R.N.,  Lake Ariel, died Saturday after an illness in the VNA Hospice Unit at the Community Medical Center.  Her husband of 60 years is William E. Nolan.

Born in Avoca, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Jackson Spencer.  She attended Avoca schools and was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Scranton.  She was a member of the St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community.  Prior to retirement she had been employed as a registered nurse in various local hospitals.

Surviving are sons Patrick and his fiancé Robin Avery of Honesdale and William and his wife Alice of West Virginia;  daughters Kathy O’Neill and her husband Jim and Mary McClure and her husband Daniel all of Lake Ariel and Rosemary Buchard and her husband Brad of Arizona;  16 grandchildren;  3 great grandchildren;  several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son Michael; a grandson Ryan Nolan;  brothers Harry and George Spencer;  sisters Martha Spencer, Genevieve Gallagher, Florence Hansen, and Elizabeth Callahan.

Michael A. 'Mickey' Pesarcik, Lake Ariel, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital after an illness. His wife of 70 years is the former Cecilia Andracki.
 
Born in Throop, son of the late Anthony and Catherine Weiss Pesarcik, he was a retired supervisor for PennDOT. He was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 5823, Hawley.
 
Also surviving are brothers Andrew, Lake Ariel, and George, Throop; sisters Tina, Florida, and Fini, N. Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by brothers Anthony and Joseph; sisters Ann, Helen, Mary, Mildred, Kity, and Betty.
 
The Mass of Christian will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30am in St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s Rd. Ledgedale.

Edith Kizer Gilpin, Lake Ariel, died Saturday morning at the Community Medical Center after an illness. Her late husband was Merle Gilpin.

Born in Maplewood, daughter of the late Leslie A. and Pearl Bell Kizer, she was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and the Scranton Business School. She was a private duty nurse’s aide and was a school bus driver with her husband. She played the trumpet in the Crystal Band and loved her pansies and visiting with her great-grandchildren. She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving is a daughter Dorothy Niles, Carbondale; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sons Wayne and John Wittenbrader; and a daughter Dawn Wittenbrader; sisters Ruth Brooks and Elizabeth Layland; a brother Buddy Kizer;.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, with services by the Rev. Ron Onder.

Born in Norwood, Pa. Daughter of the late Archbald and Mary Sullivan Wilmarth. She was a graduate of Springfield High School, Montgomery County. She attended the St. Thomas More St. Mary’s Parish Community. Prior to retirement she worked for printing craftsman for Pocono Pines as a graphic artist.

She was a compassionate, loving and special individual that touched many lives. The love she gave her family, friends and animals is a treasure that will never be forgotten. She will be truly missed.

Christine A. Hollister, Sterling Twp., died Sunday at home after an illness. Her husband of 44 years is Kenneth Hollister.
 
Born in Derby, Ct., daughter of the late Douglas and Christine Vaccaro Bradshaw, she was a member of the Jericho Independent Bible Church and its Choir and prior to her illness had been employed as a butcher at Riccardo’s Supermarket. She was a 14 ½ year survivor of a heart transplant.

 
She loved camping, gardening, and her children and grandchildren.
 
Also surviving are sons Edward and his wife Carol, Uniondale, Pa., Kenneth and his wife Sharon, West Wyoming, Pa., Homer and his wife Kim, Moscow; daughters Christine Major and her husband George and Sheri Lynn Murray and her husband Jeffery, both of Gouldsboro; 20 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

William J. Gauck, of Lake Ariel, died Thursday at home after a long battle with parkinson’s disease. His wife was the late Joan M. Karmen Gauck.

Born in Hicksville, NY, son of the late Martin G. and Catherine Gauck. Prior to retirement, he was employed as an oiler burner repair technician in New York and was the owner of Bill’s Tackle Shop in Lake Ariel. He was a member of the St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community where he had served as a Eucharistic minister, minister of the hospitality committee, former head usher, an alter server at the daily masses, and helped organize several church retreats. He and his late wife were avid bird watchers. He enjoyed wood working and repairing small engines. He was an Army veteran. Special thanks to neighbors: Joe Rennekamp, Llewellyn Courtright, and Dave Tysiak and Allied in home services.

Surviving are a niece Barbara Raczyoski; of New Jersey, a nephew Michael Cotton; of New Jersey, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Al Hirsch; of Lancaster, Pa.
He was preceded in death a brother Frederick.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of Helen Henneforth Conway, Hollisterville, and the late Joseph Conway, she was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School, the Mercy School of Nursing, College Misericordia with a Masters degree in nursing and the University of Scranton with a Masters degree in counseling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville and had worked as the Manager of the Oncology Department at Mercy Hospital until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Red Hatters, the Child Evangelism Fellowship, the Olympians, and the Gospel Puppeteers.

Surviving are sons Michael, Hollisterville, James and his wife Elaine, Lake Ariel, Timothy and his wife Brenda, California; daughters Susan Ackley, Hollisterville, Donna Forrest and her husband Joseph, Yardley, Pa., Cindy Brink and her husband Robert, Lake Ariel, Kathleen Barrett and her husband Bradley, Georgetown, Ma.; a brother Wayne County Senior Judge Robert Conway, Lake Ariel; 25 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Patrick and 2 grandchildren Daniel and Nicole Chapman.

Born in Brooklyn, son of the late William and Mary D’Onforio Vaughn. He was of the Catholic faith. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a Cement Mason serving as a foreman in Brooklyn. He was a member of the Cement Mason’s Union Local 780 for 50 years.

Her husband of 57 years is Marlyn Shaffer.
 
Born in Mt. Cobb, daughter of the late Linus and Minnie Neville McPeek, she was a graduate of Jefferson High School and member of the Centenary United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was past President of the Hamlin P.T.A., a member of the Red Cross and a past 4H Club Leader. She was a Wayne County Judge of Elections, a member of the Farm Bureau, and the Wayne County Republican Women. She and her husband ran Shaffer’s Farm and the former Hamlin Diner.

 
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and helped many children in the community.
 
Surviving are sons Brad and his wife Pamela, Ma., Phillip and his wife Kristen, Lake Ariel; daughters Joy Simons, Lake Ariel, Christine and her husband Rick Smith, Honesdale, Brenda and her husband Ward Bolan, N.J., Valerie and her husband Paul Kirkconnell, Toronto; two brothers Robert McPeek, N.Y. and Russell McPeek, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Born in Bradley Beach, New Jersey daughter of the late John W. and Margaret Gant Lyon. She was a 1933 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, New Jersey. She was a member of the St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community, Lake Ariel. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a nursing supervisor at the Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, New Jersey.
Surviving are a son Alan J and his wife Patricia of Bethlehem; daughters Carol R. O’Neill and her husband John of Newton, NJ and Lynn Lindner and her husband Jerry of Gouldsboro; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister Barbara Van Sise; brothers Frank and Raymond Lyon.

John E. Venesky, 70, a life long resident of Lake Ariel, died Friday in the Community Medical Center after
a brief illness. His wife is the former Sally Barrett. They had celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2007.

 Born in Lake Ariel, son of the late John and Mary Venesky. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated High School and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Newfoundland. He was employed by the Western Wayne School District in the Transportation Department, prior to retirement he had worked for 27 years as the maintenance manager at Indian Rocks in Ledgedale. He was a long time member of the Salem Twp. planning commission and a certified Pennsylvania water works operator with a certificate in pesticide control. After retirement he started Venesky Excavating Company.
 
He was a quiet, caring, and loving husband and father.

 Also surviving are a daughter Michele and her husband William Craft of Lake Ariel; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Pawloski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Newfoundland.

Lynita Camin, 92, Lake Ariel, formerly of Carbondale, passed away Sunday in the Wayne Woodlands Manor after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was the widow of Carl Camin who passed away in 1976.

Born in Galilee, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Hattie Brooks Canfield.  She was a graduate of the Damascus High School and the Wayne Commercial School.  She was a former member of the Carbondale First United Methodist Church.  Prior to a Florida retirement she had been employed as a paralegal for Atty. Louis A. Fine in Honesdale for 50 years. 

She loved to travel, having visited 35 countries with her late husband.  She was active in various church groups in Carbondale and Leesburg, FL. and was a volunteer in the hospital in Leesburg.  She cherished time spent with her family. 

Surviving are a daughter Sharon Birmelin and her husband Fred “Chip” of Lake Ariel; a son Lynden Carl and his wife Margaret of Pittsfield, MA; a sister Laura McBride of Monticello, NY; and her beloved granddaughter Lyndsay J. Birmelin of Lake Ariel.

She was preceded in death by two infant daughters Lynda Dianne and Lynda Carol; brothers Kermit and Kenneth; and a sister Beulah Wolfram.

Graveside services will be held in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Galilee Saturday November 3rd, 1 p.m.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Richard C. Loughrey of the Hideout, Lake Ariel, Pa formerly of Succasunna, NJ died Monday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa after being stricken ill at home. His widow is tho former Mary Pat Donnelly, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April.

He was born in Orange NJ son of the late Joseph and Mary Hallett Loughrey. He was a graduate of West Orange High School. He was a member of St Thomas More/St Mary’s Parish Community, Lake Ariel. Prior to retirement he had been employed for 36 years by NJ Bell Atlantic as a senior staff manager. He was a member and one of the founders of the Hideout Woodwookers Club. He was also a army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was beloved husband, father, grandfather, Brother, uncle and friend. He was a highly skilled woodwooking craftsman.

Joanne R. Newman, R.N., 61, resident of Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Senior Center, died Wednesday at the Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness.
 
Born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late James and Laura Newman, she was a graduate of Ralph J. Osgood High School, New York. She was of the Catholic faith. Prior to retirement she worked for 15 years as a nurse at the Kings Park Psychiatric Center.
 
Joanne was an avid reader and loved to knit and crochet. Some of her favorites were Elvis Presley and Chuck Norris, watching wrestling (along with screaming for her favorite wrestler Hulk Hogan), listening to country music and she also lover to take lessons to learn how to play her guitar. She was a very spiritual person and enjoyed singing on St. Joseph’s Church’s choir in Kings Park, NY. She was very well known for her kindness and always enjoyed helping and caring for others.
Joanne took great pride in helping raise her younger brother, James from the time she was 16 years old. She got a great joy attending her niece’s events and watching her grow up. She was a very family oriented woman. She was a kind, gentle woman, loving sister, aunt and friend who had great faith and will be deeply missed forever.

 
Surviving are a brother James and his fiancé Theresa, Lakeville; a niece Holly, Lakeville; several Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.

Rauschmeier. She was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and attended the former Wayne Commercial School for 2 years. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a commercial artist with her brother Neil. She was a member of the Hamlin Senior Citizens Center.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She loved to
scrapbook and do art work with her brother Neil and his wife Terry. She also loved to garden and tend to her flowers, reading, her family and many friends at the Hamlin Senior Center. She especially loved her dog Rocky.

Surviving are a son George and his wife Deanna; a daughter Kathleen Haser; a brother Neil Rauschmeier and his wife Terry all of Cherry Ridge; two grandchildren Sarah and Matthew.

Barbara A. Snyder of Lake Ariel died Wednesday in Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton after an illness. She was the widow of Donald Snyder Sr. who died in 1998. Born Paterson NJ she was the daughter of the late Wilber and Edna Bushoe Seidel. She was graduate of Hawthorne High School. She had lived in Hawthorne NJ for most of her life. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a secretary in NJ.

Surviving are a son Donald Snyder Jr of Hacketstown NJ; daughters Debra Johnson of Great Bend; Sandra Krizek of Lake Ariel and Chris Jacobs of Clifton Park NY; a brother William Seidel of NJ; a sister Gail Bartnick of Springville, Pa.;. granddaughter and care giver
Lianne Waller.; grandchildren: Carly, Kasey, Kayla, Tom, Heather, and Matthew.

She was preceded in death by a brother Richard.

The Funeral will be held Saturday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt 296,
Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel. Cremation will follow in the Lake Region Crematory at the James
Wilson Funeral Home.

        Brian VanLeuven, Lake Ariel, died Friday morning in Mercy Hospital after an illness.  His wife is the former Diane Gregorski.  The couple had been married 23 years.
        Born in Scranton, son of the Warren and Mary Buckingham VanLeuven. He was a graduate of
Western Wayne High School.  He attended the Pentecostal Assembly of God, Hamlin. He was a
truck parts salesman for McNeilus manufacturing.
        Brian was a devoted loving husband and father. He was genuinely loved and respected by his family and friends. Brian had a love for children and sports. He was a coach for the junior Western Wayne Wildcats, where he served on their executive board. He coached Pee Wee soccer for the Abington School District.
        Surviving is a son Zackary at home; brothers Jerry of St. Thomas, PA, and John of South Canaan; sisters Sarah Vanleuven, Morgantown, PA, Sandy Novobilski, Lake Ariel, JoAnn Juice, Stewartsville, N.J., and Susan Phillips, Lake Ariel. Several nieces and nephews.
        The funeral will be Tuesday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with service by Reverend Gordon White.

        Julius B. Rosengrant, Lake Ariel, died Friday evening in the Lackawanna County Health Care Center.  His wife is the former Nina Tompkins.
        Born in Nicholson, son of the late Walter and Florence Sachse Rosengrant. He was a
graduate of Lake Consolidate School.  He attended the Cotez United Methodist Church,
Cortez. He was employed by DHIA as a milk tester for Penn State.He and his wife were
co-owners of Rosengrant campground at Lake Henry.
        Julius was former President of the Western Wayne Booster Club, a former financial secretary and charter member of maplewood fire and rescue company, a former member of the Lake Twp. planning committee, and the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cortez United Methodist Church.
        The family of Julius would like to thank the Staff and Caregivers of Lackawanna County Health Care Center for the wonderful care shown to him.
        Surviving are sons Byron, Calvin, and Roy all of Lake Ariel; daughter Dawn Westcott, Lake Ariel; brothers Afred, Ronald, James, and Lloyd all of Lake Ariel, and Steward, Wysox; sister Kathryn Harris, Lake Ariel; grandchildren Paul, Jason, Felicia, Joleen,

        Rocco J. Micari, The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Thursday in the Mercy Hospital after an illness.  His wife is the former Patricia "Pat" Cope.  The couple had been married 48 years.
        Born in Passaic, New Jersey son of the late Philip and Ida Fazzio Micari he was a 1948 graduate of Brooklyn College earning a degree in Political Science.  He was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary's Church Community.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by the New York City Housing Authority as a supervising manager.  He was an active teamster recruiter, various civic matters especially school board issues, various committees and activities in The Hideout, and served on the Advisory Board of the Area Agency on Aging.  He was a United Sates Army veteran.
        Surviving are a son Philip and his wife Lisa of Long Pond; daughters Mary Micari and her
husband Jay Michaels of Queens, New York, Patricia Infante and her husband Robert of Lake Ariel, and Gina Ocello and her husband Anthony of Franklin Square, New York; five grandchildren Andrew, Laura, Joseph, Gina, and Elizabeth. Preceded in death by a brother Joseph.
        The funeral will be Monday at 9am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd.

Ingebjorg Bertelsen, 85, and a 48 year resident of Honesdale, died Monday in Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Bjorge Bertelsen.

Born in Norway daughter of the late Steinar and Anna Andersen Vatne. She and her husband ran a dairy farm for many years. She was a member of the Kingdon Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mt. Cobb

Surviving are a son Ivar and his wife Pia of North Hollywood, Ca; a daughter Annette Boshman and her husband Brain of Lake Ariel; brothers Arne and Siguard Vatne of Norway;  a sister Klara Johansen of Norway. Preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

William E. Marchington Jr

William E. Marchington Jr of Hamlin, Pa died Monday afternoon in Geisinger hospital, Danville. He is survived by his wife of 45 years the former Esther Potter. Born in Newport RI son of the late William E & Leah Jean Marchington Sr. He was a graduate of Burrillville High School. He was veteran of the United States Air force serving from 1961 to 1966 where he served as a Jet engine mechanic at Westover air force base. During his time in the service he attended springfield technical institute , specilizing in heating and air conditioning, graduating in the top of his class of 1200 students.

He had worked for several years for Space Conditioning co, in the research and development division in Harrisburg, Va., traveling the east coast as trouble shooter. He also had been employed by Boiler Equipment co in Scranton from 1968-1974. He purchased Hebergers heating in 1974. In 1976 it became known as the Heating People serving the area for 30 years. Bill was also active in the Boy Scouts and helped form the Southern Wayne Chamber of Commerce.

Also surviving three sons: William III and wife Leona of Maplewood, Scott Sr and wife Gloria of Dickson City , Eric/and wife Dawn of Taylor. Grandchildren Bianca, William IV, Scott jr, Brian

Jocelyn Kwitkin, Honesdale, died Tuesday evening in the Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home, Lake Ariel after an illness. Born in Bogata, Columbia she was the daughter of Camille Morabito, Honesdale and Lawrence Kwitkin, Staten Island, NY.

She was a graduate of Tootenville High School, Staten Island, NY and had been employed as a certified Nurse's Assistant at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She was a member of St. Thomas More/ St. Mary's Parish Community.

Her mother Camille would like to thank all of Jocelyn's many care givers and friends who helped during her long illness.

A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday morning at 10am in St Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel. All family and friends are asked to go directly to the church.

Veronica Filitor, Lake Ariel, died Tuesday morning in Andover, N.J. Her husband was the late Frederick A. Filitor.  The couple was married October 18, 1947.

Born March 26, 1925 in New York, New York daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Laieta Lapetina she attended St. John Villa Academy and was awarded a Bachelor of English Degree from Nortre Dame/St. John's University.  She was third grade teacher at Our Lady Help of Christians, Tottenville, Staten Island from 1965 to 1971.  She then taught second grade at the Rev. George Brown School in Sparta, New Jersey from 1971 until her retirement in 1990.  She and her husband spent their retirement in Lake Ariel and were active in parishioners of St. Thomas More/St. Mary�s Parish.  She was involved in the RCIA, Choir, The Blue Army and bible study.  She considered the parish as part of her extended family.

Surviving are daughters Rita Jean Yackanich and her husband Dimetrius, Staten Island, N.Y., Jane Hanley, Lake Ariel, Magee Murray and her husband Frank, Medway, Massahcusetts, Mary Joan Ullmann and her husband Kurt, Andover, N.J., Joanne Grady and her husband Michael, Landing, N.J.; Janet Leonard of Rockaway, New Jersey who was like a daughter to her;  brother Michael and his wife Margaret of Staten Island;  eight grandchildren Elise, Lauren, Bridgette, Amy, Christine, James, Jill, and Mary Veronica; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her sister Rita Filitor.

The Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30am in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Rt. 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00am in St. Thomas
More Church, Gravity and Tresslarville Roads, Lake Ariel.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Tom and John Miller.

Born in Brooklyn, NY daughter of the late Clark and Mary Bangert Torrance. She was a graduate of Dumont High School.  She was a member of the St. Thomas More and St. Mary's Parish Community, WLE citation review board, a long time member of the women's
lunch club of WLE, and the altar and rosary society and the food pantry at St. Thomas More and St. Mary's Parish Community.

Surviving are sons Michael of E. Rutherford, NJ, and Andrew of San Francisco, CA. A grandaughter Clare of Houston, TX.

Roger O. Jones, Scranton, died Saturday evening at the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit following an illness. His widow is the former Mary Tighe.

Born in Scranton son of the late Orris and Adella Freeman Jones, he was a graduate of Western Wayne High School and attended the Pioneer Baptist Church, Carbondale.

Surviving are step-sons William Stormes, at home and John Tighe, Wilkes-Barre; step-daughters Blanche Miller and Betty Jane Stormes, Scranton; brothers Wayne and his Carol, Dickson City, Alfred and his wife Dawn, Florida; a sister Bonnie Mitchell and her husband John, Hollisterville; a granddaughter India Stormes, whom he was raising; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Anthony "Tony" Salvatore Russo, 75, Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, passed away at home Friday.  He married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Farrington in 1952 and they were happily married for 54 years.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey and grew up in Brooklyn, New York son of the late Abbondio and Angelina DeNave Russo.  He was a veteran of the Korean War.  He owned his own butcher shop in Brooklyn and worked for the City of New York for many years before retiring to the Lake Wallenpaupack area. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and the outdoors while being surrounded by his loving family and friends.  His family hopes that his kind heart and warm spirit will be remembered.

He is survived by a son Anthony and his wife Arlene and their daughters Allison and Lexy New Providence, New Jersey; a daughter in law Theresa Russo and her son Michael Thomas, Jr. of Nesconset, New York; a sister Catherine Bills of Brick, New Jersey; siiter in law Alice Russo of Parlin, New Jersey; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son Michael who was a New York City Firefighter who perished on September 11, 2001 in the attacks on the World Trade Center.

Cobb, son of the late George and Barbara Kizer Sheerer he attended the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Hamlin.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by Jefferson Township. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Cobb, Gloria Gard and her husband Dave of Scranton, Lisa Swingle and her husband John of Hamlin, Amy Davis and her husband Rich of Moscow, Billy of Lake Ariel, Jamie of Dunmore, Marlene Lloyd and her husband Jim of Carbondale, a grandson Pete Sheerer of Dunmore, and Kathy of Texas; a sister Fern Silfie of Mt. Cobb; twenty four other grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

Donald Gordon Shaffer, Sr., South Canaan, graduated to Glory Sunday on July 1, 2007.  He was married to Doris G. Enslin who preceded him in death January 9, 2000.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late late Harry E and J. Marguerite Morgan Shaffer.  He worked for DeNaples Transportation as a school bus driver for more than 24 years.  He was a member of the Canaan Bible Chapel, Lake Ariel.

Surviving are sons Don, Jr and his wife Judy of Waymart, Dean with whom he resided and Douglas and his wife Rose of Hamlin; a daughter Diane Collick of Simpson; sister Lois Lyons of Scranton; brothers Cecil Snyder of Florida, Stanley Snyder of Ga, Kendall Snyder of Md.; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Earl Snyder, Robert Snyder and Kenneth Snyder; a sister Eleanor Plata.

Matthew J. Sorensen, the Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Saturday after injuries suffered in an automobile accident.  His wife is the former Dina Rivera.

Born in Johnson City, NY son of Thomas and Sandra Dunkailo Sorensen of Fleetville.  He
was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School.  He was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel.  He was employed as a laborer for Jerry Fuller Concrete and Masonry. He loved woodworking and the Dallas Cowboys.

Effie Marie Pickrell, Moscow, died Saturday in Hamlin as a result of an automobile accident. Her companion was Charles Rathburn.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Austin Beers and Jessie Walton Beers Hemmler, she had fromerly been employed in the home health care field. She attended Bidwell Hill United Methodist Church.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly.

Surviving are daughters Lori Black, Moscow, Holly Pickrell, Lake Ariel; sister Amber Stout, Hollisterville; brothers Wilbert Beers, Maryland, Norton"Butch" Beers, Easton, Pa.,  Jack Beers, Moscow; grandchildren Anthony and Corey Matacchiera, Jacquelyn Griffiths, Dylan Black; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Otis Beers.

Albert E. Stevens, Sr., Sterling, died Friday at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, after a long term illness. His widow is the former Elsie Irene Beemer Stevens, they had celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past year.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Frank and Helen Enslin Stevens, he was a member of the Sterling United Methodist Church. His family was one of the founding families of Sterling, Pa. Prior to retirement he was a school bus driver and life long cattle and produce farmer.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather. He loved spending quality with his family and friends at the annual family pig roast each July 4th. He also enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada and chatting with his many customers.

Surviving are sons Albert E. Jr. And wife Noel, Greentown, Douglas and his wife Luann, Taylor, Steven, Sterling, Daniel and his wife Kim, S. Born in East Orange, NJ, daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor Dunworth Limpert, she was a graduate of East Orange High School. Prior to retirement she was employed as an account representative in New York City. She attended B.V.M. Queen of Peace Church and was very active in the various groups, activities, and events at the Ellen Memorial Care Center.

Surviving are a daughter, Katherine and her husband John Mills, Hawley; a brother Frank and his wife Irene Limpert, Staunton, Va.; grandchildren Diane, Stephen, Cindy and Sharon; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother William Limpert.

Born in Bridgeport, Ct., son of the late Ernest and Rose Bendetti Allen. Prior to retirement he had been employed by Textron Lycoming as an inspector.  He was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea.

Surviving are a son Ernest, Jr and his wife Teresa of Southington, Ct.; daughters Linda Masterson and her husband Gary of Louisville, Ky and Virginia Hoban of Port Richie, Fl; a brother Kenneth and his wife Gloria of Leesburg, Fl; a sister in law Bette Allen of West Palm Beach, Fl.; grandchildren Melissa, Matthew, Tara, Casey, Brian, James, and Heather.

Mary E. Fischbeck, Lake Ariel, formerly of Carmel, New York, died Saturday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness.  She was the widow of Frederick Fischbeck who died in 1951.

Born in Dickson City, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Zielezinski Letkiewicz.  She was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary's Parish Community.  Prior to retirement she had been employed as a
receptionist in New York City for an advertising agency.

Surviving are brothers Frank of Silver Spring, Md and Edward of Port Richie, Fl; sisters Betty Pawlik and Gertrude O'Brien both of Lake Ariel; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother John Letkiewicz and sister Pearl Schork.

Wesley T. Gronowski, Sterling, died Wednesday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit @ Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness.

Born in White Plains, NY, son of Robert Gronowski and his companion Joanne Marquartdt, Hawley and Nancy Favilla Tora and her companion Tony Meo, Sterling he was a 2003 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School.

Also Surviving are brothers, Robert Gronowski, Hawley and Jack Tora, Sterling; a sister Carly Gronowski, Sterling; paternal grandfather Luke Gronowski, Florida; maternal grandparents John and Virginia Meo, Dunmore.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Marie Gronowski.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Thomas J. Cavanagh of 1461 The Hideout, Lake Ariel died Sunday at home. His widow is the former Lillian Steinhoff.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Francis and Eleanor Quigley Cavanagh. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a Cab driver in New York City.

He had also served in the Army Reserves and was a member of AMVETS Post 28, Ozone Park, NY. He was of the catholic faith.

Surviving are Daughters; Jeanne Cavanagh of Queeens, Tracy and husband Brian McManus of Queens, Patti and husband Jerry Capolongo of Queens, Lauri Cavanagh of Cape Coral, Fl and Kellie and husband Vinnie Scibelli of Long Island. Grandchildren Jason, Justin, Christopher, Jessica, Brandon, Christy, Daniela, Megan, Caitlin, Brian, Vincent and Dante, one great grandson Gabriel. Several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Francis, James and Kenneth.

Douglas Theobald, 89, of Lake Ariel, died Friday in Marion Community Hospital after a long illness. His wife was the late Helen Buckingham Theobald.

Born in Binghamton, NY, son of Fred and Pearl (Swingle) Theobald. He was a graduate of Honesdale High School. He was a WWII veteran in the European Theater and a Bronze Star recipient. After retiring from Bailey’s Furniture Factory he loved to fish and hunt.

Survived by a son William and wife Karen, Lake Ariel, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Melody Thomas and a brother Kenneth.

William J. Vogt, Lake Ariel, died Monday evening after injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Born December 31, 1985 in Bronxville, New York he was the son of John W. Vogt of Lake Ariel and Valerie Lagstrom Vogt of Forest City.  He was a 2004 graduate of Western Wayne High School.  He was of the Lutheran faith.  He had been employed by JAFLO Tree Service as a flager.

Surviving are a maternal grandmother Janet Lagstrom of Barnegat, New Jersey; brothers Jonathan Vogt of Lake Ariel and Joseph Caruso of Forest City; a sister Virginia Caruso of Forest City; several aunts and uncles; cousins.

employed as a plummer and was also a member of the Teamsters Union.

Leland C. "Jake" Field, Hamlin, died Friday at home after an illness. His widow is the former Helen White.  The couple had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 16.

Born in Hamlin, son of the late Earl C. and Mildred Skelton Field he was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School.  He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by the Department of Agriculture for 17 years, he was the owner of Field Used Furniture, and retired from Howe's 84 ARCO as a manager.  He had also been a self employed farmer.  He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided.

Hospice Unit at Mercy Hospital, Scranton, after a brave battle with lung cancer.

His longtime companion and caregiver is Ruth Crawley who will miss him dearly. He was born in Roselle Park NJ, son of the late Paul and Mary Schwarz Kukan. He was the owner of Cable Innovations of Hamlin, a premiere satellite business he founded, through his expert knowledge and hard work. He was well known in Roselle Park for his induction into the Roselle Park Athletic Hall of Fame for his play on the 1958 Roselle Park Panthers Football team.

Surviving are daughters Patty Rose of Andover, Mass and Paula Schramm of Springfield, NJ; sisters Beverly Tran of Ocean Pines, Maryland and Marlene Mihalik of Farmington Hills, Mich.; grandchildren Brian and Alyssa Schramm and Brooke and Ashlyn Rose.

Schneider of Newfoundland he was a graduate of the Freehold Regional High School.  He was active with the Boy Scouts of America. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping, his children, God
and his Native American Heritage.

Born in Lake Ariel, son of the late Stewart W and Verna E Smith Batzel he attended the Lake Consolidated High School and was a graduate of the Cristi Trade School. He was a member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church. Prior to his illness he was self employed as an electrician. He also served as a Lake Township supervisor and as a member of the Lake Ariel Fire Company and the Lake Ariel Rod and Gun Club.

Lois B. Wilson, Lake Ariel, died Sunday night in Mallard Meadows Care Center after an illness.  She was the widow of James H. Wilson who died in 1997.

Born in Kingston, daughter of the late William and Iva Eschenbach Bullock. She was a graduate of Moscow High School.  She was a member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Harriet Greene Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 198.  Prior to retirement she had been employed with her husband in the operation of the James Wilson Funeral Home.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law Sally Wilson-Huffstutler and her husband Cpl. Michael of the Pennsylvania State Police of Lake Ariel; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a nephew.

James J. Mostowski, Sr., S. Canaan, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital after an illness. Born in S. Canaan, son of the late John and Ann Vokiavich Mostowski, his widow is the former Laura Bronson.

He was employed as a bus driver in the Western Wayne School District and previous had worked at the Hartford Reed Sawmill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army surviving in Vietnam War and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6520 in Cortez.

Ashcroft Dietz. A graduate of Prospect Heights High School in New York. She was a member of the Honesdale Congregation of the Jehovah's Witness. She was employed as a travel agent at AAA in Honesdale.

Peter Oliver Clauss, 77, of Lake Ariel died Saturday, March 10 at home surrounded by his family following a courageous fifteen year battle with multiple myeloma. His wife of 54 years is the former Jane Macdonald of Paupack.

Born in the Lake Ariel Hotel, he was the son of the late AliceFadden Clauss Harrison and Harvey Clauss, and stepson of the late Russell Harrison. A graduate of Lake Consolidated High School and Johnson Trade School, he was a member of St. Thomas More Parish. As a U.S. Navy Seabee, he served in Africa, Cuba, and Rhode Island. After his military service he returned to Johnson Trade School where he taught carpentry and cabinet making. He formed his first construction company in 1957 and retired in 1993 as president and co-owner of C&D Builders, Inc.

In service to the community, he was a member of the Financial and Long Range Development committees and served as co-chairman of the 21st Century Fund Raising committee of St. Thomas More Parish, a member of the Southern Wayne Regional Chamber of Commerce, a charter member and past chairman of the Southern Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority, a charter member and officer of the Western Wayne School Authority, an officer of The Hideout Builders Association, he was instrumental in the formation of the Wayne County Builders Association and served as a director, a member of the Pennsylvania Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders, a member of the Wood Trades Craft Committee at Johnson School
of Technology, a past member of the Lake Ariel Lions Club, a charter member of the Lake Ariel Fire Company he was also instrumental in establishing the Lake Salem Trust to build the Hideout Fire Station, and a member of the board of directors of the Lake Ariel Bank.

With an avid devotion to his family, he set an example of the importance of hard work, love, and joy in his life. As a skilled and accomplished wood craftsman, he loved working in his shop designing and creating furniture and various projects for the enjoyment of others. The husband of all husbands, the father of all fathers, the grandfather of all grandfathers, the friend of all friends, may he rest in God’s peace. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of the Dunmore office of DaVita Dialysis for their loving and compassionate care.

Surviving are five daughters and five sons; Mary Jane Corcoran and husband Timothy of Lake Ariel, Peter and wife Margot of Tafton, Paula Isaacs and husband Charles of San Jose, California; Dr. Patrick and wife Grace of Lake Ariel, David and wife Regina of Lake Ariel, Peggy Quayle and husband Dale of Santa Ana, California; Robert of Westfield, New Jersey, Carol Gardner and husband Steven of Santa Ana, California; Timothy and wife Rosanne of Lake Ariel, and Heidi Clauss of Lake Ariel.

He is also survived by 30 grandchildren; Erin Corcoran Yunker and husband David, Timothy, Patrick, and Megan Corcoran; Glyncora Clauss and fiancé Tyler Tate, William and Sarah Clauss; Dorothy, Caroline, and Harrison Isaacs; GraceAnne, Veronica, Cassidy, Jenevieve, Alexandra, and Joseph Clauss; David and Andrew Clauss; Mary Alice, Peter, and Thomas Quayle; Emily and Kevin Clauss; Jack, David, Patrick, Timothy, and William Gardner; and Maggie and Ellen Clauss.

Surviving are two brothers, James of Dunmore and Dr. Thomas Clauss of Justice; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Gretchen Evans and a brother Harvey Clauss.

Pearl E. Letkiewicz Stadulis Schork, 91, formerly of Brooklyn, a
resident of Lake Ariel since 1968, died Wednesday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit after an illness. She was the widow of her first husband Lawrence Stadulis and her second husband Bernard Schork.

Born in Dickson City, daughter of the late Frankand Gertrude
Zielezinski Letkiewicz. She was a member of the
St. Thomas More/St. Mary's Church community where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society and also served as the former Director of Religious Education. She was active in the Religious Education program as a Catechist from 1971-1977 and the ParishCoordinator for St. Thomas More/St. Mary's from 1977-1989. She was also a member of the Orchard Lake Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies Auxiliary of theLake Ariel Fire Company, and an honorary lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Congress of Parents and Teachers.

Surviving are a son Frank Stadulis of Boca Raton, Fl; a daughter
Ruth Major of Waldwick, NJ; brothers Frank of Silver Spring, Md and Edward of Newport Richie, Fl; sisters Mary Fishbeck, Gertrude O'Brien, and Elizabeth Pawlick all of Lake Ariel; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Richard Belles, Lake Ariel, died Monday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital Hospice unit after an illness. His widow is the former Joan Ramble.

Born in Dunmore, Richard lived the past 70 years in Lake Ariel.He was the son of the late William and Freida Johnson Belles. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a carpenter. He was United States Marine Corp Veteran serving in the Pacific during World War II.

Surviving are daughters Kathy Savitz of South Canaan, Kim Williams of Peeksville, NY, and Betsy Belles of Los Angeles, Ca.; a brother David Belles of Pittsford, NY; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; two nephews.

Laurence "Larry" Burnham, Gouldsboro, died Saturday night in the
Mercy Hospital after an illness. His widow is the former Virginia Jewell
Hannigan. The couple had been married on Thanksgiving Day 2002.

Born in Peterborough, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late
Laurence R and Rosamond Stewart Burnham. He was of the Mormon faith. He had been employed as an over the road truck driver earning the distinction of driving for 40 years accident free. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He will be sadly missed by all of his friends and family. The family is very grateful for all the tender loving care that Larry received.

Born in Brooklyn, son of the late Paul and Matilda Yaegel Warren. He was of the Protestant faith. Prior to retirement he had been employed as an iron worker in New York City. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran
and he was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

Born January 29, 1921 in Lake Ariel, son of the late Morton H. and Gertrude V. Conklin Moore. He attended the Lake Consolidated School. Prior to retirement he had been employed by Penn DOT and also served 14 years as a Lake Township Supervisor. He also raised beef cattle. He also attended the Free Methodist Church of South Canaan.

Laura Chapman (nee Lawrence), 94, died of natural causes on February 2, 2007. A native of Hamlin, she had spent the last few years of her life as a resident of Brighton at Ribauda, Lake Ariel, PA. Laura was born on March 13, 1913, in Dunmore, PA, and lived in Connecticut, Maryland, Ohio, and Vermont with her birth family before returning to Wayne County.

Laura was a graduate of Philadelphia Business Institute. She moved from being Secretary to the Superintendent of Philadelphia State Hospital, Byberry, to the same position at Fairview State Hospital in Waymart, PA. She served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1937. In August of 1944, she married Clifford Chapman (deceased) of Hamlin.

Laura was Secretary to the Official Board of Hamlin Centenary Methodist Church for more than 30 years, and also taught the adult Sunday School. She was widely known as the foremost local historian in the Southern Wayne County area, and wrote a historical play for the Church’s Bi-Centennial Celebration in 1955. For a few years Laura was school secretary for Hamlin Elementary School. Laura worked in several capacities for Northeast National Bank, Scranton (currently PNC Bank) for over 15 years. After retiring, she returned to work as a legal secretary and secretary for White Beauty View Resort.

She acted as Librarian for Salem Township Library. She was a weekly columnist for the Villager newspaper for 20 years. Laura was a lifelong member of the Scranton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a conservationist and an active member of Lacawac Nature Sanctuary. Her original poetry was published in several venues including the Villager and the Grit newspapers.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by two daughters, Alice Howells of Knoxville, PA and Lura C. Palmer of Wyomissing, PA, and one son, George L. of Baltimore, Md. A sister, Gertrude Reer lives in Kingston, NY, and a brother, William Lawrence of Florida, grandson, David Palmer of Chicago and two granddaughters, Sarah and Margaret Howells, both of Corning, NY.

Born in Manhattan, NY, on July 18, 1921, son of the late Sophie Wolski and Justin Filitor, he was a graduate of Haarin High School, prior to retirement he was employed as a supervisor in pension/trust department for Chase Manhattan Bank. He was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish,, a member of VFW Post #5360 in Newton, N.J. and served in the Army Air Force during WWII in Okinawa where he was a front line Medic.

He loved his family dearly and took great pride in his 5 daughters and grandchildren.

Also surviving are daughters Rita Jean Yackanich and her husband Dimetrius, Staten Island, NY, Jane Hanley, Lake Ariel, Magee Murray and her husband Frank, Medway, Ma, Mary Joan Ullmann and her husband Kurt, Andover, NJ., Joann Grady and her husband Michael, Landing, NJ; Grandchildren Elise, Lauren, Brigette, Amy, Christine, James, Jill, Mary Veronica; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Richard.

Hazel M. Sherman, 99, Cortez, died Friday in the Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center after an illness. Her husband Albert Sherman died in 1963.

Born March 17, 1907, in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Martha Stern Schultz. She was a member of the Cortez United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school in her younger years. She was a member of the Jefferson Senior Center. She graduated from the former Scranton Technical High School and the Powell School of Business. In her early years she had been employed by the Schultz Brothers Department Store in the Petersburg
Section of Scranton as a bookkeeper.

She told beautiful stories of her childhood to her family and friends. She took great delight when she would play Old Maid with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and her husband Al enjoyed their hobby of making home movie pictures of their neighbors and showing them at night in their yard under the stars, then moving indoors to the movie barn on Cortez road.
Her family has many happy and fond memories of a beautiful person. She will be remembered for her loving smile and her love for her family and especially her kittens. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and friends at Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center and to the VNA Hospice for their compassion and care.

Surviving are a daughter Janice Chamberlain and her husband Dale of Lake Ariel; three grandchildren Lisa Chamberlain, Robin Mayeski, and Al Chamberlain and his wife Linda; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially watching her son and grandsons at the car races. She also liked to square dance and to sew.

Surviving are a son Michael and daughters Patty and Kelly all of Lake Ariel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, corner of Gravity and Tresslarville Roads, Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ledgedale.

Bernice E. Gorton Kilcullen, 93, died Saturday in Ft. Myers, Florida
formerly of Elhurst and Scranton, Pa. and Waltham, Ma. She was the wife of the late Thomas P. Kilcullen.

Born in Elmhurst, daughter of the late Henry and Berthelda Grimes Gorton. She was active in Christian Evangilism with music ministry. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are daughters Kathleen Davis and her husband Charles of Norwood, Ma and Deborah Venuti and her husband Colin of Cape Coral, Fl; four grandchildren Christopher Davis and his wife Christine of Franklin, Ma., Brian Davis and his wife Tracy of Bellingham, Ma., Mark Donahue and his finacee Kelly Kamm of Framingham, Ma., and Keri Gustin and her husband Mark of Cape Coral, Fl; four great grandchildren Meaghan, Ireland, Hailey, and
Joshua Davis. Graveside services and interment will be held Friday at 1pm in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst with services by Rev. Kenneth Lindow, Jr.

Norm Jean Ferry, 79, Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Lake Ariel, died
January 2 in Florida. Her husband was Edward C. Ferry who died in 1993.

Born in Jamaica, NY daughter of the late Walter and Ethel MacDonald. She was a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church. She was a volunteer who enjoyed golf and playing cards. She was a member of the Red Maple’s Women’s Golf League, the Dorflingler Glass Museum, and the St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s parish. Norma Jean loved her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are a son Michael P. of Emerald Island, NC; a daughter and son in law Barbara Ann Ferry and Richard Kamp of Sante Fe, NM; her grandchildren Lucia Kamp, Brian Christopher, and Kevin Ferry; niece Kathleen Bambrick and her husband Ken; nephew Richard MacKerer and his wife Lisa Walsh; great nephews Mark and Patrick Bambrick. Preceded in death by a sister and brother in law Rita and Walter MacKerer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10am in St. Thomas More Church by Rev. Phil Altavilla, pastor. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9am until time of Mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, Fl. 33908.
