Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00am in St. Rita’s Church, 512 Main St. Goudlsboro.

All attending the funeral mass are asked to go directly to the Church.

Friends may call Friday from 4:00 – 7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd.Lake Ariel.

Memorial contributions in Winifred’s memory may be made to The Spina Bifida Association.

Winifred L. Maskarinetz, O.P., of Newfoundland, formerly of Colonia, NJ passed Sunday surrounded by her children at the Carbondale Nursing Home following an illness. Her husband of 51 years Roy Maskarinetz passed in 2014.

Born in 1936 in Lake Ariel, daughter of the late William B. and Winifred Bagnick Medalis, she earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Marywood University. Prior to her retirement she was a 2nd grade teacher at  School Clairmont Ave School #20, in Colonia, NJ. She was a devote member of St. Rita’s Church, Gouldsboro and the former St. Anthony’s Church in Newfoundland.

She was Sister Mary Bernadette of Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Dominican Order, St. Thomas Aquinas Chapter #413, a founding member of Woodbridge Police Wives Organization, active in Woodbridge Twp., NJ Politics and the Environmental Commission, Den Mother to Boy Scout Troop 30 in Colonia, NJ, and she loved crafting and sewing.

Surviving are a son David William Maskarinetz and his wife Barbra of Harmony, NJ, a daughter Amy Lynn Maskarinetz-Ng and her husband Michael of Woodbridge, NJ; a sister Lillian Simpson and her husband Les of Lake Ariel; nephews Ronald and godson Jeff Kuniegel.

She was preceded in death by a son Kevin Richard Maskarinetz and a sister Dorothy Medalis Kuniegel.
