Finally home!  Virginia Madden, 86,  went home to be with her Savior on June 10, 2017.  Her husband and best friend is Leroy Clare Madden.  The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on April 28th.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Evan and Helen Miller Schreck. She was a graduate of the former Moscow High School.  Virginia served the Lord sacrificially thru out her life as she raised her family, volunteering with local 4-H groups and the GDS fair where she was a life member.

Virginia’s church family and faith were very important to her.   She taught Sunday School and played the piano and organ since the age of 14.  Her faith led her and her husband to become a part of the organizing group to start the Calvary Christian School where she served as a bookkeeper as well as her many years of service with Child Evangelist Fellowship (CEF) of Wayne and Pike Counties.

Early piano lessons fostered a love of music which translated into a lifelong ministry through music which included music lessons to hundreds of students which she devoted herself to until 2016.   She was a pianist and organist at the Canaan Bible Chapel where she was a member for the past 43 years.  She was also a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers.

She loved her 20 grandchildren and even had the blessing of celebrating the birth of her twenty sixth great grandchild.

She will be deeply missed by all.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the dedicated and compassionate care shown to Virginia in her final days.

Also surviving are her two sons Keith and wife Josie; Timothy and wife Laura; three daughters Luann Sverduk and husband David; Dawn Mountain and husband William; Regina Gillow and husband Timothy all of Lake Ariel; a foster daughter Charlotte Hill of New Hampshire;  nineteen grandchildren;  twenty six great grandchildren; a sister Ruth Sherman;  a brother Evan (Bud) Schreck;  nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son Stephen; a beloved granddaughter Amber Madden;  two sisters Elouise Schreck and Esther Brown.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10am in the Canaan Bible Chapel, 30 Hemlock Rd., Lake Ariel with Rev. Daniel Henwood, senior pastor officiating.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 in the Canaan Bible Chapel and again Wednesday morning prior to the start of the service.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggest memorial contributions be made in Virginia’s honor to Canaan Christian Academy or Canaan Bible Chapel, 30 Hemlock Rd., Lake Ariel, PA 18436 or to the Child Evangelist Fellowship of Wayne and Pike Counties, 461 Grove St., Honesdale, PA 18431.
