Thomas V. McGee, The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Thursday afternoon in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness.   His wife of 60 years is the former Connie Gentle.

Born 1934 in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Edward and Edna Houser McGee.  Thomas earned an associates degree from Penn State and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the Newark College of Engineering after attending night school for seven years.  A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of the St Thomas More St Mary’s Parish Community where he was a lector, as well as being a member of the Finance and Pastoral Committees.  He also volunteered by reading the newspapers over the radio for blind listeners.

Prior to his retirement he had been employed by the Public Service Electric and Gas Company in Newark where he was an Electrical Engineer.   He was a United States Army veteran.

Tom enjoyed singing with a Barbershop group and several quartets. He loved to travel and visited many foreign countries and US states. Many of his trips were with his sister and her husband. He enjoyed doing all the puzzles in the local newspapers.  Tom spent every morning reading the liturgy of the hours and other religious books. He called his man cave his prayer and music room. Old time big band music and Frank Sinatra were his favorites. In ‘85 Tom and Connie purchased a home in The Hideout. At that time Tom learned to ski, sail and golf.

Also surviving are his children Jane M. McGee and her spouse Lisa Smith of Wharton, New Jersey; Jean McGee Finch of San Carlos, CA.; Thomas E. McGee and his fiancé Wendie Schuerman of Somerset and Brick, New Jersey; Kevin McGee of Cocoa, FL; a brother Robert McGee of Latham, NY; three grandsons Robert J. McGee and Daniel T. and Jason R. Finch;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Alice Fenno.
