Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, formerly St. Patrick’s, Delaware Street, Olypant. Interment, St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Olyphant.

Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m., and Monday,  8 to 8:40a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Route 296, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, 332 Wheeler Ave., Scranton PA, 18510.

Sally J. Barrett Venesky, Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday with her daughter and son-in-law at her side after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She passed two days before her  80th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Venesky, on November 9, 2007.

Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late John and Jane Barrett, she was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and Marywood College and was a member of Holy Cross Parish, formerly St. Patrick’s in Olyphant. She was a teacher in New Jersey and the Western Wayne School District before becoming the community manager at Indian Rocks, Ledgedale, a position she held for over 25 years. Sally was also a real estate agent in the Lake Wallenpaupack area for numerous years. She loved her volunteer work and was a member of many professional and civic organizations in the area. She was a long time board member at the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton and the Southern Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Sally loved going to concerts, senior learning seminars and especially the monthly “Class of 59” luncheons. She was a caring and loving wife and mother with a wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving are a daughter, Michele and husband, William Craft, Lake Ariel; sister, Ann Browning, Clarks Summit; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Hart and Madlyn Orloski.
