Born in Throop, daughter of the late Henry and Annie Hodgson Abbott Beam. She retired from Sikorsky Aircraft where she was an instillation electrician. She was a member of the Cortez United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and actively involved in the Hamiln Senior Center.
She loved her grandchildren a bushel and a peck and they will miss her dearly. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing rummy cubes, and dancing and singing with her friends at the center. She was so proud of the fact that she helped build Blackhawk helicopters.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny Rosengrant and her husband Ronald of Lake Ariel; step-daughter Marie Kovalsick and her husband Brian of Massachusetts, a brother Fred Beam of Florida, a sister Carol Yarish of Turbotsville, grandchildren Tammy Hess, Wendy Kelly and her husband Tim, John Rhodes III, Penny King and her husband Joe, and Dawn Lockwood, step-grandchildren Gretchen Bruso, Jesse Kovalsick, and Jeffrey Kovalsick, sixteen great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Doreen Wellner, a brother Matthew Abbott, sisters Agnes Coddington, Anna Godak, Shirley Drew, and husband Arthur Burdge.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Art Yetter.
