Elaine Corazzi, 90, of South Canaan, formerly of Hamlin, passed away peacefully Friday morning at home.  She was the widow of Julius Corazzi who died in 2004.

Born August 16, 1927 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine McConnell Norton.  Elaine moved from North Wales, PA to Hamlin where she raised her family.  She owned and operated the Dark Horse Farm, which she took great pride in.  She was very passionate about all animals and was very active in many animal rescue groups.  Elaine also served the community for many years with the Hamlin Fire and Rescue Company where she served as dispatcher and president.   Her community involvement led her to write numerous articles in the Wayne Independent under the heading of “Hamlin News.”   Her faith in God was a central part of her life.

More than anything Elaine loved her large family.

The family would like to thank Celtic Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care.

Surviving are her sons Stephen Gershey and his wife Kathy of Perkiomenville, Daniel Gershey and his wife Donna of Lake Ariel and David Corazzi with whom Elaine resided; a step son Jac Corazzi of South Canaan; a sister Carol Brown and her husband Dave of Florida; fifteen grandchildren;  twenty two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a niece.

A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held Sunday, August 27th at 1pm in the Maplewood Fire and Rescue Company 1120 Lake Henry Rd. Maplewood.  All attending are encouraged to wear orange in honor of celebrating Elaine’s life with her favorite color.

Immediately following the service the family will receive friends and family for a time of fellowship and refreshment.

Interment, private in Salem Cemetery, Hamlin.
