Anne P. Fiorentino, The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Wednesday morning at home. She was the widow of Joseph Fiorentino.

Born in Manhattan, daughter of the late Salvatore and Rosaria Barbitta Giuttari she attended St. Thomas More Church. She was a concert pianist performing in concert halls in New York City, and later teaching piano.

She lover her grandchildren and music.

Surviving are a daughter Joan Schneider and her husband Murray of Lake Ariel; a son Anthony Fiorentino and his wife Gaetana of Vernon, Ct.; a sister Theresa Nicotera of Hopatcong, NJ; grandchildren Gregory, Douglas, and Claudine Schneider and Joseph, John and Michael Fiorentino; great grandchildren Brianna, Joshua, Jack, and Charlotte.

Preceded in death by her brother Anthony Giuttari.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday December 17, 2005 at 11am in St. Thomas More Church corner of Tresslarville Rd and Route 296, Lake Ariel by Rev. Philip Altavilla, pastor.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx.

Surviving are a son August "Skip" Stark, III and his wife Sally A. Of Lake Ariel; two grandchildren Kathryn and Nicholas; two great grandchildren Christopher and Cassandra.

Preceded in death by a grandson Christopher.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Ann Howe, R.N., Lake Ariel, died Saturday morning in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit after an illness. Her husband was Paul Howe. The couple celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on November 27, 2005.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Hughes Gilhool she was a 1948 graduate of Ben Franklin High School, Carbondale and a 1951 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church. She served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement she had been a registered nurse in hospitals New York City, Virginia, and at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was also the long time nurse for Dr. Vincent Tulley in Honesdale. She was a member of the retired Nurses Assoc., the Red Hat Society, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Surviving are a step son Peter and his wife Kathy Howe of Downingtown; a daughter Janet Bursis and her husband Jeff of Scotrun; brothers Francis X. Gilhool and his wife Ann of Shrewsbury, NJ, Harold Gilhool and his wife Jean of Honesdale and Kieran Gilhool and his wife Joanne of W. Webster, NY; sisters Mary Vosefski and her husband Jack and Florence McCarthy and her husband Thomas all of Webster, NY, Jeanne Vosefski and her husband Walter of Jermyn and Grace Bognatz and her husband Donald of Carbondale; grandsons Emerson and Marshall Bursis and Patrick Howe; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers Jack, Paul, and William Gilhool.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11am in St. Thomas More Church, corner of Tresslarville Rd. and Route 296 Lake Ariel with Rev. Phil Altavilla, officiating and Rev. Ron Onder of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church assisting.

Friends may call Thursday at the church from 10am until time of Mass.

Private interment, Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery.

Ruth H. Bell, Lake Ariel, died Tuesday evening in the Seven Rivers Medical Center, Crystal River, Fl. She was the widow of Raymond M. Bell who died in 2002.

Born in Taylor, daughter of the late Winfred and Catherine Weisenfluh Heiser she was a graduate of Taylor High School and a member of the Open Bible Fellowship Church, Lake Ariel. Prior to retirement she had been employed by PG&W as a secretary.

Surviving are a step son Paul and his wife Betty of Lake Ariel; a step daughter Diane Sherwood and her husband Jack of Troy, Alabama; brothers Willfred and his wife Dorothy of Florida, Gordon and his wife Joy of South Carolina, and Ernest and his wife Florence of New Jersey; sisters Helen Bell and her husband Carl of Boyds Mills and Beverly Colucci and her husband Leonard of Dunmore; a sisters in law Marjorie Chapman and Jean Heiser; grandchildren Mark and Robin Bell and Brian and Timothy Sherwood; great grandchild Hunter Ray Sherwood; several nieces and nephews; her cat Ebony.

Preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Edward.

Michael J. Krisovitch, Lake Ariel, died Thursday evening in the Mercy Hospital after an illness. His widow is the former Susan Labishak.

Born in Lake Ariel, son of the late Jacob and Mary M. Meka Krisovitch. He was a graduate of the former Johnson Trade School and was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a Tool and Die Maker for the Micro Tool Company in Bethlehem. He was a life member of the NRA.

Surviving are a son Michael J. Of Lake Ariel; a daughter MaryAnn and her husband Jim Jutegg of Apopka, Fl.; brothers William of Allentown and John of Lake Ariel; sisters Helen Klovensky of Maryland and Pat Pruss of Ledgedale.

Preceded in death by a brother Joseph; two sisters Margaret Semanision and Marion Stepkovitch.

The funeral will be Monday at 9am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass to be celebrated at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church.

Donald L. Knickerbocker, Lake Ariel, died Sunday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. His widow is the former Joan Radonis. The couple had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on May 22, 2005.

Born in Elmhurst, son of the late Charles and Ruth Cramer Knickerbocker he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. Prior to retirement he had been employed by the Scranton Times as the circulation director for the Carbondale area. He was a member of the American Legion Post 579, Moscow. He was a United States Navy veteran serving as a Gunner’s Mate 3rd class during WWII in the Pacific Theater.

He loved fishing and gardening and most of all his two adoring grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter Joanie Deneen of Lake Ariel; a brother William of South Canaan; a sister Betty Frable of Morehead, Fl; two grandchildren Nicholas and Kelsey of Lake Ariel; nieces and nephews.

The services and interment were private at the convenience of the family.

Born in Mt. Cobb, step son of Mae Shaffer of Honesdale and son of the late Wilford and Louise Strackbein Shaffer he was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and prior to retirement had been employed by the Strackbein Building Block Company as a driver.

Surviving are sons Mark and his wife Denise and Jeffery and his wife Peggy all of Jefferson Twp.; a daughter Cathy Bannon and her husband Michael of Berwick; a sister June Schaible of Florida; three half brothers Robert, Joseph and James Shaffer all of Honesdale; half sister Ruth Ann Enslin of Waymart; a step sister Betty; seven grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother Elmer J. Shaffer.

Evelyn A. Cook, Lake Ariel, died Sunday in Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center. Her husband is William H. Cook. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on January 26th.

Born in Saco, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Mickel Smith.

She was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School, a member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church and the Harriet Greene Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 198. She was employed at Cook’s Agway and drove a school van in the Western Wayne School District..

Surviving are sons William A., Lake Ariel, and Jeffery, Rochester, N.H; daughters Linda Justice, Julie Wartella, and Nancy Penell, all of Lake Ariel; 6 grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:00 in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 Gravity Road Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Ron Onder.

Anthony J. Fazio, Lake Ariel, died early Saturday morning at home. His wife is the
former Linda LaCross.

Born in Rochester, Minnesota son of Dorothy Sbarra Fazio, RN, Dunmore and the late Dr. Anthony N. Fazio. He was a graduate of Bishop Reilly High School, New York, University of Scranton where he earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees, the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and NCO Academy. He was veteran of the 109th Infantry and the United States Air Force. He had been a teacher at Scranton Prep, Bishop O’Hara, Lackawanna Junior College, and Temple University. He was a 25 year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police retiring as a Corporal in 2003. He had served all three sections with Pennsylvania State Police: the Patrol, Criminal, and Staff Units. Where he served as a first responder, a recruiter, warrant officer, community service and public information officer, communications dispatch, criminal investigations, troop education officer, troop communications specialist, and patrol and shift unit supervisor. He was a charter member of the International Assoc. of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and the National Rifle Association. He was a former Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, a third degree Knight of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police, Pa State Troopers Assoc., Adjunct for the Paul A. Sweeney American Legion Post 807, Hamlin, Military Vehicle Preservation Assoc., PHI DELTA KAPPA Educators Fraternity, the Police Marksmen Assoc., International Assoc. Chiefs of Police, Pa. Assoc. Of Private Investigators, Police Sportsmen Assoc., and the Hideout Sportsmen Assoc. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church.

Surviving are children Holly Brenner of Forest City, Tory Thompson, of Red Bank, New Jersey, and Cody Thompson of California; brothers Richard of Peckville, Peter of Cresco, Paul of Wilkes-Barre; a sister Margaret Tosh of Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass to be celebrated at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, lake Ariel.

Born in Lake Ariel, daughter of the late Morton and Gertrude Conklin Moore. She attended school in Lake Ariel and was a member of the Bethlehem Church in Dover, New Jersey.. She had been employed a secretary for the Warner-Lambert Pharmecy in New Jersey.

Surviving are sons Donald E. of Berwick and Roger C. of Brunswick, Georgia; a brother Clifford Moore of Alabama; a sister Mary Gregory of Lake Ariel; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers Edward, John, Morton, and Roger; a sister Beverly.

Jean M. Toy, Hollisterville, died Tuesday afternoon at home after an illness. Her husband was the late Earl M. Toy Jr.

She was born June 29, 1922 in Scranton. She was the daughter of the late Orville and Elizabeth Neville and was a graduate of Sterling High School. She was a 60 year member of Harriet Greene Chapter No. 198 of the Eastern Star. She was also an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Hamlin.

Whether it was her weekly visits at the Senior Center with her friends or sitting on the porch during the summer with her family, she always had something to look forward to and enjoyed living her life.

Surviving are a son, David and wife Karen Toy, Hollisterville; a daughter, Elizabeth and husband Van Booth, Factoryville; a brother, William Neville, Hollisterville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by a son, Robert E. Toy.

Services will be held Friday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd., Lake Ariel.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 pm with the Harriet Greene Chapter No. 198 of the Eastern Star service at 7pm.

Surviving are a son Jason of Conshohocken, Pa.; a brother Andrew Bazil and his wife Barbara of Shavertown, Pa.; sisters Mary Ann Size and her husband Jim of Scranton, Pat Ubaldini and her husband Steve of Dallas, Pa., Ann D. Bazil of Scranton; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst Monday at 10:00am with mass celebrated by Rev. John Polednak. Friends may call Sunday from 2-6pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.

Survived by family in Poland and her caregivers Mr & Mrs Danuta Brzek and family of Wallington, NJ.

Ettore M. "Eddie" Casal

Ettore "Eddie" Casal, Lake Ariel, died Friday on the Community Medical Center after an illness. His widow is the former Marlene Kruchinski.

Born in Honesdale son of the late Manuel P. And Fernanda Fantini Casal he was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and Johnson Techincal School. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church. He had been employed by Thompson Electronics for 32 years and was currently employed by Arlington Industries. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.

Eddie was a very devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and neighbor who was never happier then when he was with his three grandchildren. He always put others ahead of himself and was a friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are daughters Cathy Skirpan and her husband Greg of Cortez, Lisa Chowanec and her husband Jeff of Dickson City and Amy Casal of Lake Ariel; a brother Adrian of Dunmore; sisters Louise Brady of Long Island, NY, Angela Springer of Mt. Cobb, and Joan Seeley of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Sarah, Annie and Joseph Skirpan; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister Josephine.

Sophie Karnick

Sophie Karnick, South Canaan, died peacefully at home Wednesday. She was the widow of Andrew Karnick who died in 1966.

Born May 16, 1905 in Galacia Poland daughter of the late Michael and Mary Wiesynke Naholnick. She immigrated to America in 1924 and resided on the family farm in South Canaan for the next 80 years. She was the oldest parishioner of St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church in South Canaan.

Sophie spent her life working on the family farm and loved to share her stories of her heritage and her younger years in the "Old Country."

She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Surviving are sons Peter and his wife Joan, Adrian and his wife Clarice, and Paul all of South Canaan; a daughter Mary Krohta and her husband John of Michigan; brothers John of South Canaan, Raymond of Lake Ariel, and Paul of Florida; sisters Anna Dragon of Mayfield and Helen Kuchmanich of Waymart; grandchildren Judy Spresset, Sandra Benavitch, Mary McDevitt, Julie Krohta-Whitmore, Diane Brace, Paula Herzog, Dan, William, and Steven Karnick, and Andrea Murray; great grandchildren Laura and Susan, Michael and Christina, Kyle and Garrett, Clare and Johnnie, Stacy and Carissa, Jennifer, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Mitchell, Lucas and Jacob, Lydia, Chloe, Cameron, Zachary, and Collin, and John; three great great grandchildren Matthew, Ryan, and Shawn; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Karen Karnick; a grandson John Karnick; two brothers Stephen and William Naholnick; a sister Tillie Luxmore; half sons Alex and John; half daughters Julia and Anna.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 10am in St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church by Bishop Tikhon.

Born in Scranton daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Kamauraskas she was a 1961 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Previous to her illness she was employed by the Price Chopper in Dunmore as a cashier and had previously been employed by Marywood University for 18 years.

Surviving are a son Simon, Jr. of Mt. Cobb; daughters Michele Novobilski of Dayton, NJ, Virginia Lipchus of Scranton, and Simone Brownell of Hamlin; a brother Frank of Scranton; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother Ronald; a sister Nancy Rosella.

A Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at Noon in St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel by Rev. Edward R. Scott, pastor Emeritus.

Catherine T. Booths, South Canaan, died early Saturday morning in the Wayne Woodlands Manor after an illness. Her husband is Vincent J. Booths.

Born in Bristol, Ct. daughter of Stanley and Malvinia Schilling Gorel of Waymart. She was a graduate of Waymart High School and was a member of St. Thomas More Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxilary for Texas Hose Company # 4.

She loved bingo, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are sons Robert of Lake Ariel, Stanley of Honesdale, David and Michael both of Lake Ariel; a daughter Valerie Faatz of Lake Ariel and Josephine Allen of Maryland; brothers Stanley of Carbondale and Andrew of Honesdale; sisters Adele Parnell of Carbondale, Malvinia Hardler and Sophie Dunkle both of Shippensburg, and Ann Gorel of Las Vegas; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son Vincent E. Booths.

Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel.

Ross A. Cobb, 44, Lake Ariel, died Friday morning as a result of an automobile accident. His widow is the former Pauline Rizzo.

Born in Carbondale, son of Betty M. Fahrenbach Cobb, Lake Ariel and the late Homer A. Cobb he was a 1979 graduate of Western Wayne High School and Johnson Technical School. He was of the protestant faith.

He was a devoted husband, stepfather and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed being with family and friends.

Surviving are step-sons Jimmy Edwards of Northampton, Michael Molewski of Bethlehem, and William Molewski of Lake Ariel; step-daughters Susan Edwards of Lake Ariel, Darlene Mayernik of Mansfield, NJ, Judy Cerra of Scranton and Samantha Edwards of Center Valley; sisters Rosalind Williams, Sally Wilson-Huffstutler, and Susan Swingle all of Lake Ariel; twelve grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Ron Onder.

John Buckingham, White Mills, died Wednesday at home after an illness.

Born in Blooming Grove, son of the late William and Annie Legg Buckingham he was a member of the Aldenville Baptist Church. Prior to retirement he had been employed by the Culver County Road Department in Indiana. He was a United States Army Veteran.

Surviving are sons Harold of Washington, Charles of Colorado, David of Arizona, and John B. of Illinois; daughters Sayla Buckingham of Texas, Sharon Buckingham of Florida, Hannah Bradley and Mable Buckingham both of Indiana; a brother William of White Mills; sisters Adelaide Schmidt of Scranton, Mary Van Leuvan of Lake Ariel and Lois Ace of Chester, NJ; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son Anthony; a daughter Bessie; a sister Marion E. Clarmont.

Services were private at the convenience of the family.

Interment, Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery, Maplewood.

Born in Carbondale, son of James P. and Virginia Rotell Beischer, Sr., of Sterling, he was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Newfoundland. He was employed by as an Over the Road Truck Driver and formerly as a plumber. He attended Western Wayne High School.

Surviving are a son Antony of Lackawaxen; brothers James Jr. of Easley, SC and Christopher of Cliffside Park, NJ; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister Anita Marie Beischer.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9am from the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass to be celebrated at 10am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Route 191 Newfoundland.

Elizabeth G. Wood, Sterling, died Thursday at home following a vigilant battle with cancer. She was a member of the Sterling United Methodist Church and happily married to the Rev. Robert L. Wood for 37 years.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late R. Nevin and Mae E. Osborne Gilpin.

As a youth, she was a Girl Scout, member of FHA, and active in church choir and youth activities. A graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and Mansfield University she earned a degree in Elementary Education and was a member of the Kappa Omicorn Nu Honor Society. Throughout her life she worked as a substitute teacher in the Lackawanna Trail and Newark Valley school districts. Prior to her illness, she worked as Administrative Assistant to the District Superintendents of the Scranton and Binghamton Districts of the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church and served on the Wyoming Conference Shared Leadership Table. She continued to serve on the Wyoming Conference Board of Ordained Ministries where she had acted as the registrar of Deacons. She had been active in the United Methodist Women on local, district, conference, and jurisdiction levels, served on the Wyoming Conference School of Christian Missions Committee and the Conference Board of Diakonal Ministries. She and her husband were Certified Leaders in Marriage Enrichment Inc. and the Celebrating Marriage programs. Early in her life she had been active in both the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs, as well as working in the Dalton Sellers Shop. As founder and director of the Dalton Preschool, she continued her love for teaching as well as serving in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs. She worked as a volunteer church secretary for forty years and had been a member of the Whitney Point Shakespeare Club.

Surviving are a son Robert N. and his wife Kathleen of Dalton, with daughters Breanna and Kayla, and son Richard W. and his wife Tricia of Doyelstown, with children Alexander and Hannah.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Sterling United Methodist Church Route 196 Sterling officiated by Reverends: Betty Poe, Charles Johns, Pat Lee, and Robert L. Wood. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church followed by

Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, South Sterling.

Born in Lake Ariel, daughter of the late Homer and Anna Miller Bidwell she was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and was a member of the Howe Memorial Methodist Church in Florida. She was a member of the Methodist Women’s Club and was a volunteer at the Thrift Shop.

Surviving are a son William F. Anderson of Hopewell, NJ; daughters Beverly Brown of Southampton, NJ and Karen Anderson of Gainsville, Fl; sisters Wanda Sachse of Madisonville and Geraldine Treat of White Mills; grandchildren Joanne Welther, Kristin Carroll, Eric and Jeff Anderson; great grandchildren Frederick and Megan Welther and Moira Carroll.

Chad J. Seeley, Sterling, died unexpectedly Saturday in Lake Ariel. His wife is the former Tracy Korotky.

Born in Scranton, son of Stanley and Bernice Minor Seeley of Lake Ariel, he was a 1998 graduate of Western Wayne High School. He was employed by the Stag Construction Company.

Chad touched every0one that he met. He was a hunter and loved to take trips with his best friends. As a son, brother, husband, and friend, he will be sadly missed. He was a gentle soul who would do anything to help anyone. Chad will always be remembered by his family and friends.

Surviving are maternal grandparents James and Rita Minor, Aldenville; a paternal grandfather Stanley Seeley, Pittston; a brother Nick of Lake Ariel; several cousins; several aunts and uncles.

John R. Hoke, a resident of the Hideout, Lake Ariel died Wednesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. His wife is the former Jane Finley.

Born in New York State he was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church, Hamlin. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a free lance commercial artist. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, an advisor to the Order of the Eastern Star, the Hamlin Fire & Rescue Company, the Wayne County Fire Police and the Northeastern Fire Police Assoc. He was a United States Army veteran.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7pm in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Route 191 Hamlin, Rev. Canon Edward K. Erb, officiating.

She was a loving daughter who will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are her brothers Richard and wife Wendy of Randolph, NJ and Michael and his wife Lori of Bakersfield, Ca.; her loving aunt Mary McEwan and her husband Jim of Lake Ariel; aunts Joan Friedman and Margaret Karp; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on September 1, 2005 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Ledgedale.

Born in Waymart, daughter of the late William and Cora Short. She was a graduate of the Waymart High School and was of the Methodist faith. Prior to retirement she and her husband owned and operated the Collins Grocery Store in Lake Ariel.

She worked and lived for her children and grandchildren and loved to garden.

Surviving are two sons: Dr. Dale and his wife Cindee of Clarks Summit and Dean and his wife Patricia of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Jennifer Clark, Chelsea Collins, Richele and John Michael Kolcun; a great grandson Aaron Clark.

Preceded in death by two grandsons Scott and Justin Collins; brothers Lester, Edgar, Richard, and Harold Short; a sister Mildred Dipple.

Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Frederick J. and Marjorie Gilles Schmitt. Prior to retirement he had been employed by Saphier, Lerner, and Schindler, Associates, New York City as an architectural office space designer. He had served in the United States Naval Reserve. He was also active in the churches he attended, serving as deacon and leading Bible studies through the years. He also enjoyed tennis, golf, painting and home improvement projects.

Surviving are a son Frederick S. of Nutley, N.J.; daughters Denys Pfeiffer of Lansdale, Pa. and Debra Hoyt of Berryville, Va.; 12 grandchildren.

Surviving are sons Vincent of Lake Ariel, Mario of Delaware, and Joseph of East Rutherford, NJ; sisters Maria Dirrubba and Antoinette Simone both of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother Luigi Campioni.

Entombment will take place Tuesday at 11am in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, N. Arlington, New Jersey.

Reynolds of Stroudsburg; sisters Phoebe Rothermal and her husband Robert of Millsboro, Del, Rita Simmons and her husband Gordon of Sacramento, Ca, and Marie Hartline and her husband David of Douglassville; grandchildren Brian Lewiski, Dawn Infante, and Lee Reynolds; four great grandchildren.

Charles William Klim, Sr., 68, of Madison Twp. died Tuesday evening in the Community Medical Center after an illness. His wife is the former Betty Reese and they celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on April 7th.

Born in Cortez, Jefferson Twp. son of the late Michael and Mary Evancho Klim. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He served his country honorably in the Navy Reserves. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Dunmore.

Prior to retirement, he worked at the Trane Co., Dunmore for many years and in the North Pocono School District, Moscow.

He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather who spent most of his time caring for his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Austin.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Also surviving are sons, Charles, Jr. and his wife Linda, Moscow, Michael and his wife Karen, Lake Ariel; daughters, Carla Antidormi and her husband Skip, Hamlin, Tina Sheehan and her husband Robert, Thornhurst, Kimberly Sicovitch and her husband Steve, Springbrook, Helene Goreschak and her husband Joseph, Springbrook; sisters, Veronica Cooper and Mary Ann Scott, Hollisterville; a brother, Albert Klim, Zephyr-Hills, Fl.; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Michelle; three brothers, Michael, George, and John; a sister Anna Mecca.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Philip and Anna Tarnowski Kohut. She was a member of the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church where she had been active for many years.

Surviving are a daughter Aloma Hoffman Peters and her husband Robert of Lake Ariel; two sisters Helen Sileo and Anastasia Eboli both of Dunmore; a sister-in-law Alberta Kohut of Scranton; two grandchildren Kimberly Ann Jackson of Cold Springs, Pa. and Robert Paul Chumard and his fiancé Kristen McHale of Hamlin; two great grandchildren Brett James Jackson of Cold Springs and Schuyler Stephen Chumard of Ledgedale; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two brothers Martin and Stephen Kohut; two sisters Mary Yakamavitch and Catherine Newell.

Born in Waymart daughter of the late Guy and Martha Keigler Black. She was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the WAVS. She was a member and former treasurer of the Pilgram Congregational Church in Pomona.

Surviving are a daughter and son in law Phyllis and Al Langella of Ellenton Fl.; a son Willard Hazen of Orange Va.; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in the Resthaven section of Fairview Memorial Park Elmhurst, on Saturday morning at 11am.

Viola H. Herrmann, South Canaan, died Monday at home. She was the widow of Carl R. Herrmann who died in 1988.

Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Teaneck, NY and moved to South Canaan in 1967. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Jane Aslet Clade. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a seamstress in Waymart.

She was a wonderful mother to her children and taught them great love, respect, and honorable intentions. She was her children’s rock. Always there for them no matter what the circumstance. She taught her daughters that all life should be cherished. Before becoming ill she went to many animal rescue missions for Angels Grace and was known in many shelters as "Mom," a name she loved being called. She loved the feeling of saving animals lives in their final hours. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are daughters Diane Herrmann of Tannersville and Linda Herrmann of South Canaan; her darling Chihuahua daughter Tuti who faithfully remained at her side till the end; a brother Raymond Clade of Teaneck, NJ; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister Irene Clade; brothers Gordon, Clinton, and Roland Clade.

The funeral will be Friday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. William Rushik.

Kenneth J. Wislinski, Sr., The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Monday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. His wife is the former Kathleen Todd.

Born in Staten Island, NY son of the late John B. and Ann Horvath Wislinski he was a graduate of Tottonville High School and the Middlesex County Community College in Edison, NJ. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a career serviceman in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Surviving are a son Kenneth J., Jr. of Lake Ariel; daughters Karen A. Matragrano, Rebecca A. Bigelow, and Amanda J. Erli all of New Jersey; three grandchildren.

Blessing and military services will be held Thursday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

Preceded in death by sons James, Jr. and Jeffery; daughters Susan Ovens and Lourie Martin; a brother William Ovens, Sr.; sisters Betty Houpt and Margaret "Peggy" Boyle.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11am in the Grace United Methodist Church, Maplewood by Rev’s John Craig and Wilbur Black.

Prior to retirement he had been employed as a model maker for the David Sarnoff Research Center. His model of the first refrigerator is on exhibit in the Smithsonian.

Surviving are a daughter Mary Ann Miller of Hamlin; a granddaughter Katherine Miller Ford; a great granddaughter Krystle Kamdyn Ford.

Preceded in death by a son Robert J. Coria.

Kathryn Vonderhey Kruchinski, 81, of Moscow, died Saturday in the Mercy Hospital after an illness. Her husband is Anthony Kruchinski. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on May 14th.

Born in Scranton daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Ryan Vonderhey she was a graduate of the Scranton Technical High School. She was a member of St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst.

She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother who spent most of her time caring for her husband and family. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are daughters Marlene Cassal and her husband Ettore of Lake Ariel and Linda Klim and her husband Charles of Moscow; sons Robert and his wife Roberta and Anthony and his wife Doreen all of Lake Ariel; sisters Martha Nicholoff of Dunmore and Carol Budnovich of California; a brother William Vonderhey of Harrisburg; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a daughter Karen Stark; an infant daughter Kathryn; two brothers Robert and Joseph Vonderhey.

Surviving are her son Carl H. Enslin, Jr. and his wife Sandy; a daughter Cora Sue Kobesky all of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Stephanie Buckman, Jason C. and Jamie C. Enslin; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers Robert, Frank, Berton, and Thomas Enslin; sisters Florence Palmer, Margaret Swingle, Clara Magalski, Elsie Valenches, Grace Palmer, Cora Mallard, and Marion Hunt.

She was born in Warm Beach, Wa. She was the daughter of the late James and Caroline Hayes Lewis. She graduated nursing school in Standwood, Washington and also attended Humbolt State University in California where she earned a bachelor of science degree. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a registered nurse and also served as the Director of Nursing for the Daughters of Jacob Hospital in the Bronx for 20 years.

Surviving are a son John Dow of California; a daughter Marilyn Dimas of St. Petersburg, Fl.; a sister Edith Norden of Colorado; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister Lilly Gunderson and a brother Albert Lewis.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Surviving are sisters Elizabeth Yackobovicz of Lake Ariel and Jennifer Yackobovicz of Throop; maternal grandmother Mildred Staff of Scranton; paternal grandparents Roman and Victoria Sokoloski Yackobovicz of Taylor; her mother and father in law Theodore and Susan Belk; aunts and uncles; cousins.

Surviving are sons Hugh J. and his wife Susan Williamson of New York; Phillip E. and his wife Lisa Williamson of Lake Ariel; John R. and his wife Sharon Williamson of New Jersey; daughters Anne Patricia Williamson and Catherine Terese Williamson both of Florida and Jean Marie Brown and her husband Al of New Jersey; a brother Robert Haeussler of Missouri; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Hamlin where she was a Sunday school teacher for over twenty five years, she also served as secretary of the Sunday school and was active in the missionette class.

Surviving are a son Glenn and his wife Paula of Greentown; daughters Elaine Hettes and her husband Frank of Greentown, Linda Wiley and her husband James of Allentown, and Sharon Sanes and her husband Keith of Cherryville; brothers Lloyd Van Sickle of Old Forge and Clyde Van Sickle of Cortez; nieces Denise Stiffler and her husband Charles, Sandy and Michelle Jayne; a beloved grandmother of eleven; several great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister Lois Jayne.

Born in Cottonwood, Idaho, son of Richard and Irene Mobley Gillette of Waymart, he was a 1981 graduate of Western Wayne High School. He worked for many years with Gillette Contracting.

He was a much loved father, son, brother, and uncle who loved to golf and spend time with those closest to him. He was a good hearted person who willed be missed more than he could have ever imagined. He will be thought of often.

Surviving are a daughter Sara and a son Keith both of Dallas, Pa.; a grandfather Alson Safford, Lake Ariel; a brother Richard Gillette, Jr., Waymart; a sister Teri Lynn Carey, Waymart; aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews; his best friend Anna Yasua, Az.

Prior to retirement he was a self employed Insulating contractor. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews in New Jersey.

He loved to hunt, fish, and garden.

Surviving are a daughters Kathie Lockwood and her husband Dave with whom Tompy resided and where his caregivers and Pattie Duncan and her husband Ron of Glendale, Az; a niece Ellen Shamnoski of Moosic; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother John; sisters Alice, Evelyn, and Dotsy.

He was a member of the American Legion. He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are a son Greg of Texas; a daughter Janet Smith of Lake Ariel; a brother Edward Shutkufski of Lakeville; a sister Eleanor MacDonald of Bushkill; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a daughter Pamelia Botcher; a sister Anna Mae Andracki.
